I have a friend who wants to visit Israel with her husband. Thing is, they are terrified to fly! Is there a boat that goes from the USA to Israel one way? And then another boat from Israel to USA? (like the old days before airplanes) They look to stay about a month.

It's funny.. you ask a question because you have no where else to turn and you get smart as* remarks. Clearly, if they wanted to fly, I would be able to help them. I am in search of REAL suggestions and advice.. if you can't provide it, skip to the next question.

I am aware this is not a simple task and they are aware it will take a long time to get there, if it is at all possible!

Flying is not an option. Wish it was. Please, only serious advise wanted.

Many thanks.

My mother lives in France half the year and always flies to NY then takes a cruise to France. From there , they could take a cruise to Israel. The time would take a few weeks, but they would have the best chance to relax. I'm not a travel agent but these websites below could help , and I'm sure other people have other ideas. Best of luck , Cheers!

edit atlastravelweb will go straight to the Mediterranean, see that one!

UltraNational: you weren't the better idea I was thinking about, You should be more hospitable when someone wants to visit your homeland.

edit: I just telephoned Montrose Travel, and the woman was very kind , her name is Judy Stein, shes been to Israel 11 times, and said you are more than welcome to call her. She understands the situation and has several ideas. Many ways to go, she even said they can go by Cargo Ship if they need to save money, (I'm assuming its not as it sounds as others do it as well) or trans Atlantic to the UK and then the train to Turkey or Italy, and then a ferry boat over to Israel. But I would think its best to phone her. Her number is 800-666-8767 ext, 459. Again Judy Stein. Cheers!

No! First of all, if such a boat trip existed, the trip itself would take MONTHS. You remember the World Wars when soldiers came back via boat? It literally took months, and that was from Europe.

They can get over their fear of flying, as it is irrational. Air travel is safer than driving, you can find statistics on that anywhere. El Al is a very safe airline and they should get over their useless paranoia.

Their are such things as transatlantic cruses.

You can get from several places in the US to Europe, from their you can take a train closer and another ship.

Or they can cruse to Egypt and then drive to Israel.

whoever suggested coming to england, then catching the ferry to france and catch the train there to turkey.......

sure do that if you wanna spend about a month being in trains, it's expensive and not as easy as it sounds. eastern europe is not the safest of places and is largely muslim - which i'm sure is going to make an israeli couple feel very safe!

they could take a boat to the uk, then ferry to france, then by train to greece or turkey and then from there another boat to israel.

Just fly- Drug both of them, they won't know they are on a plane!
