I've formatted my windows as well and installed Norton 2007. But still, whenever i connect any pen drive, it shows "Autorun" on the right click menu. I've scanned my PC several times but each time no virus is detected. Please reply with this.

I've formatted my pen drive as well. now when i insert my pen drive again (blank one) windows again show "Autorun" after 2-3 seconds and during these 2-3 seconds, pen drive light blinks which means something is being written on the drive. there must be some registry entry which is creating this auto run at each & every pen drive i connect.

"Autorun" is the default name that can be given to a file so that when a drive/CD/DVD etc is first accessed it will automatically start that file. Look on your pen drive and see if it has a file by the name of autorun on it. If it does, rename the file and it will no longer attempt to run it whenever the drive is inserted.

try disabling the auto run from the registry same option as cdrom

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
2. Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
3. To disable automatically running CD-ROMs, change the Autorun value to 0 (zero). To enable automatically running CD-ROMs, change the Autorun value to 1.
4. Restart your computer.
NOTE: This method disables automatically running CD-ROMs. If you want to disable automatically running CD-ROMs depending on the CD-ROM that you insert in the CD-ROM drive, you can press and hold down one of the SHIFT key while you insert the CD-ROM.

if you are using windows then it will pick it up every-time. windows will see it as new hardware and automatically open the pen drive. that is normal on windows XP and vista and some forms of earlier windows versions. it's not a virus it's the way windows is set up.

Auto run is not a virus. It just means you're either opening up your flash drive or there's a program on it that you can run. There's no virus, don't worry.
