This is an unusual situation because judging from both the tone of your letter and you writing style, I'd guess you probably have a pretty high IQ, so boredom is in fact probably your main problem. Has a school counselor talked to you and taken a look at your test scores? It could be that you should be in a GT program. At the very least, before you say to hell with it all, try and get a GED that would allow you to continue your education in the future. Also can you subsitute very strenuous exercise in place of the pills to help you sleep? or even better, is there any way you can get into sports or some other competitive program at school? I think a lot of those programs keep a LOT of kids from going insane with boredom from school. You're not alone, though, school is often BORING AS HELL for smart kids. And the textbooks - I think they design those things to torture students - they could rewrite the most graphic, edge-of-your-chair reading into a chapter that would put a perfectly ordinary person to sleep in the second paragraph. Friends in school help, too, but that's easier said than done. People that say you have to be a friend to have a friend make me want to hit them in the mouth so I won't say that. Make a list of what your options are and go over it with your parents, or - if they are too preachy - find a guidance counselor at school. If you have at least ONE class or subject that interests you then that helps you hang on, but please try to hang on. You will look back and be glad, while saying 'thank god that boring crap is over' - I promise.

Stay in school, you can finish. I think maybe you need more than just pills...I think you could use therapy as well. Its not a bad thing to have therapy a lot of people use thereapy to help them. I think a therapist can help you figure out why you are so bored and why you aren't making any friends. I would talk to your parents about it. I would urge you not to give up on school. Good luck and hang in there... once you get to college i'm sure you'll find more friends and you'll be less bored...highschool is boring but stick with it and you will be better off.

Ok, first of all, yur sleeping problem. Try to relax in your sleep and don't think about anything. Or just think about what life would you want to have. (don't worry that happens to me all the time - my life is also boring Dx ) Friends aren't important right now, you should try to get your grades up first, talk to some people, get to know them, you know. You should also tell the teacher your troubles and they should help you. Don't drink those pills, I was on those, and they always affected me when it was already morning -_-.

Don't skip school, trust me! do that and your life will be even more harder than it is.

Heck I think you should quit school. I did it when I was 17 and joined the Army. What a great life that was. Then I spent half a year TRYING to get a job. I decided I needed to go back to school, so there I was a 21 year old junior in high school. When I got out I went to college and still look back at the day I quit as one of the dumbest things I ever did. That said, I'm sure whatever is said here is not going to change your mind because you have come up with every excuse in the book. So quit, who knows how you'll be able to earn twenty bucks here and twenty bucks there.

if you cant handle your life's little problems now, you had better seek professional help. Dont drop out of school! You will have no future and we have enough deadbeats on welfare the way it is. Your 16, time to grow up and be responsible. go see your school counselor, or someone like that to get you the help you desperately need. You think your life sucks now, try to live the next 70 years without an education.

Okay I'm 30 now and trust me stay in school! if you don't have money to support yourself and are thinking "hey I can just marry a rich guy" think again.....you need that education and degree to make money to have a decent life. Me and my husband and broke, I'm exhaused from working my *** off for crap money and we stress over it all the time. School may suck now but it's only for a few years, the rest of your life is a long time to be miserable your better off just sucking it up for a few more years, doing what you gotta do to save yourself from spending the rest of your life this miserable. School is actually the way out.

This sounds interesting. Do you become cranky all the time? Al ways on a short fuse? Agitated, anxious, lethargic, loss of apetite. These are some of the symptoms of depression and anxiety. Look at the link below. They have a tick and flick questionare that can help. If you can get help early it will benefit you in the future.
Good luck.
