I have a vanity room that's basically a huge closet with my clothes and makeup... just a vanity room lol

it'd be pretty cheap to do that, right?

A lot depends on the fabric you choose and whether you pay the retail price or the wholesale price for that fabric. Here in San Diego, we have Upholstery Fabric Outlet which is essentially an outlet for discontinued fabrics that are sold at below to the trade prices, dirt cheap. At places like this, you can find cards for people who do upholstery work, many on the side while working for the big upholstery houses. They do great work, it just takes them a little longer to do it because they are doing your piece on evenings and weekends. They are MUCH cheaper that taking it to a store front. I reupholstered a Victorian setee that is very similar to the one you have pictured a few years ago and it cost me $600 with 2/3 of that being spent in the fabric.

I have a friend who owns an upholstery shop here in San Diego. I have an older sectional sofa that's getting kinda dingy. But, I like the sofa and asked how much it would cost to reupholster it (it's all cloth, front, back, and sides - so it would require a lot of material, but not as much work as the sofa you're showing).

He said it would cost about $1200, since a lot of the stuffing and padding material would have to be replaced and it's a lot of material. So, I gave up on that, because the sofa cost me $600 new and I would be better off getting another new one.

I would think that this Victorian sofa would be kind of expensive to reupholster, too, because of all the button-tuck work. At least a few, if not several hundred dollars.

Reupholstering usually cost the same as a new sofa. Unless you can do it yourself, it's pretty expensive.

Although a classic peice is usually worth the trouble and expense to do.

Reupholstering is never cheap. It almost always costs more than the piece itself. This sofa is very intricately tufted and that just screams big dollars.
