Do you want to spend more time w/ them when you're first dating? Or do you spend more time after you've been together for awhile? I don't like feeling smothered when I'm first seeing them. I don't like talking to them everyday because it gets boring to me. When I'm more attached I'd like to talk and see them more. Is anybody else the same way?

It makes perfect sense that when you've established intimacy, you feel more attached and willing to spend more time with your S.O.

When you're dating someone, you're allocating time for them out of your 'normal' routine. You're trying to decide if they fit your type, into your social circle, potentially into your daily routine...that takes time to reflect and time to see how much, if at all, you miss them. You're trying to continue maintaining other key relationships in your life...your best friend, your mother, etc...that takes time, too.

But once you've been together awhile, you've figured out how to balance all of the relationships, and how he fits in with your crowd and into your daily routine. You have more to talk about with him, because you know each other better, because you want to let him know you were thinking about him, because you need to know if he remembered to ask off work for that romantic getaway, or because you want to know what he thought of the shocking newsflash, or because you're having a bad day and you're seeking his comfort.

It all makes perfect sense to me. :)

I like to spend the same amount of time together no matter what relationship stage we are in. I figure if I don't like him enough to go out once a week when we're first dating, I doubt I'll have a drastic change of mind later on. In my current relationship, we probably dated a month or two before we started talking on the phone every day. Now that he is in school an hour away, we spend the weekends together. I don't have to see him every day to be happy, but it would be nice to see him once or twice in midweek, too. Of course, I figure that a boyfriend or girlfriend should be like a best friend.

Pretty much every day. Of course, we're married now, so it's a bit different. But it's really not a matter of how often you see each other, it's whether or not you are free to have separate lives still.

Even if you're in a serious relationship, you still need time to hang with friend or feel free to engage in your usual hobbies without feeling like you have to include him/her.

I feel ya on that note! I like to see them atleast twice during the week and spend most of my time with them on the weekends. I hardly ever use the phone to call them, but I would send a text occasionally. I like to keep them guessing. Even if I spend most of my time with them they would never get bored cause I'm always doing something retarded!

Wow, I have that same thought. I've been with my gf for 2 1/2 yrs. and still don't like to talk to her everyday. The most annoying thing is when she calls everyday, and we don't have that much to talk about. I have no problem when she comes over though, the company's great.

I see my bf once or twice a week...but he lives an hour away. I work days and he works nights so it makes it hard to see each other.

I agree with you. If a guy is overly present when he first shows interest in me, I become concerned about whether he is trying to control me and how needy he is.
