Call your benefits office to see what your coverage is. Most plans do cover psychiatric office visits. Also check to see if your employer offers the "Employee Emergency Assistance" program. This is a number that you would call and they would direct you to a Psychiatrist close to where you live and is completely confidential.

Insurances cover in different ways. The best way to find out is to go to a mental health center and give them your insurance card. They will check out what is covered and not covered and how much you are going to have to pay out of pocket.

It all depends on your specific coverage. Some insurances will cover it. Some insurances require a referral. You just need to contact your insurance and see what your individual plan covers.
