Absolutely! Every psy med I have been on has stopped working at some point, and I worked with the Dr's to find something else. That's the key, work with the Dr- don't let him/her run the show by his/herself.

Effexor xr works on 2 brain chemicals. Lots times it don't kick in till you go up to or over 225 mg. I'm on 350mg since 2002

You and your doctor could discuss taking Effexor more than once a day. There are other medications to try such as Cymbalta and Wellbutrin.
Your doctor could prescribe a combination of medications.
I hope you will be feeling better soon.

Definitely other meds you can take. It has taken me several years to finally find the one I'm on now which works very well for me. Your dr can try you on other meds until you find one that works for you. Good Luck!

You can try a higher dose. I know it did nothing for me until I got up to 225 mg. That or move on to another medication. There's always others to try. Lexapro worked well for me but I had to get off of it due to insurance problems...
