Wouldn't this be no differant than someone else giving information about their own beliefs concerning them? I see no real harm in it, it's only a site..and a place where people come to share opinions and views..pro's and con's...no matter who they may be...most of them are very interresting..many of them come with web sites to go to,to read up on the various thinking (thinkings), and it all depends on what a person is looking for and why...you have the opportunity to meet differant persons from all over and of many beliefs and cultures from the comfort and privacy of your own home...so, does it really matter? "Peace!" :)

It's intrinsic to their belief system.
The sad ones are the ones who "know" what the Bible says only because other people have told them it says that. Look at all the people who "know" that the Bible says that life begins at the instant of conception. Too bad they never bothered to look such things up, otherwise they'd see over and over that the Bible says that life begins when the first breath is taken. The first example is in Genesis 2:7 and it's repeated in Genesis 6, Genesis 7, Joshua 10, I Kings 17, Ezekiel 37, Psalm 104, and several other places in the Bible. And you gotta know that they've never read the book of Hosea in the Old Testament where God gets upset and kills unborn babies himself.
Care to speculate on how many other things these people "know" are in the Bible simply because they've been told that by people with a political agenda?
This isn't to say that belief isn't a powerful thing, though. Many amazing things have been accomplished simply because people believe. Oddly, though, those many amazing things have been accomplished by people who believe strongly in many different dogmas, which tends to indicate that it's the belief that's the source of the power, not the diety du jour.

Because it's so long (1,200 pages) that most listeners have never read - or intend to ever read.
It creates the illusion of authority as when a politician gives a public press conference in front of a bookcase filled with many books/encyclopedias.
Lights - camera - action.
Props increase votes and well as revenues from the collection plates.

Because it is God's law, and it is fact. If you think it is a STORY book, that is your opinion. I'm sorry you feel that way.
For it being a "story" book, it's pretty accurate in it's prophecy. Have you ever really read it, or checked out Bible Prophecy? You should really know the FACTS before you say things like this. I pray you will see the Truth someday, hopefully really soon! God Bless
The other left--Read Psalm 139:13-16

Law is an agreement. If you agree to follow something indefinitely, it becomes your law. The Laws in UK may not mean anything to me because that's not my law, vice versa.
Therefore, Christians uses the Bible because that's the law that governs their life. Whether it means something to you or not, that's the fact.

I'd love to say something clever....but Paul S Bullfighter already stated it perfectly. It's a crutch. Seems kind of arrogant to me to state that something is fact, when not only is it 99.99% improbable, but also impossible to prove.
And I get a kick out of it when a question like this is posted, and they respond, "It IS fact." .....Because putting it in CAPS makes it true, if you didn't know.

Because to them, their holy book is NOT just a story book - it's the word of their god. I do not share this view, and I rather like the skeptic's annotated bible ( http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/ ) , though to be fair, http://www.tektonics.org/ has a great apologetics bible and articles that attempt to refute skeptical claims, as well. I figure if I'm going to be skeptical, I'd do well to be a skeptic of both sides of the issue.

To them it is FACT!!!
The 'problem' (that is one of the causes of division world wide in 'Christianity') is there are also some non-scriptures things in most 'Bibles' currently, to God's disgust.

No, it isn't just a "story book". It IS law and fact, and it is a history book of the world. It also tells us the true nature of God and His love for us.
