Don't be concerned at this point. When you are in medical school, you will do rotations through all the services, during those rotations you will get the feeling for where you want to work. Additionally, many physicians after finishing residency in one field go back and do a fellowship in another. Life has it's twists and turns and draws us down paths that we might not expect to take.

When I started school I wanted to do anesthesia, I ended up in Family Practice, and loved it. At a later time, I worked with someone who needed some assistance with his pain program and loved it. We all do what feels right at the time.

My first wife when she started school, I tried to convince her she should do OB/GYN. She only wanted to do FP. After residency and teaching in an FP residency, she ended up working only with OB and GYN patients from the FP practice and later limited her practice to working with that section of the FP practice.

You will figure it out, don't stress those decisions now. Just get into school, and worry about getting into residency later.

I might suggest you consider volunteering at a hospital or clinic. It is a great way to learn about what all goes on, regarding what medical professions do what. Plus, it is a great way to get some experience in patient care (as a volunteer you talk with people mostly, but still this is important). Meanwhile, having this volunteer experience is going to help you get accepted into a college program (physician, nurse, physical therapist, et.al).
