THANK YOU! I don't try to entice anyone away from their belief (or nonbelief) system.
Personally, my nonbelief has to do with my inability to understand why a loving God would withhold the use of his infinite power to cure my son. That tells me he either doesn't care (which would be heartbreaking...an infinitely powerful being who doesn't care), WANTS my son to be afflicted (even worse...that's just cruel), or doesn't exist (more logical).
I notice that people love crediting God with healing various ailments ("my tumor went away!" "my diverticulitis was HEALED!" "my warts disappeared!").
If they are properly crediting God, it's funny that he hasn't ever seen fit to give someone back a body part.
Lose an arm in an industrial accident? Tough luck; God's busy curing a tumor in Des Moines. He doesn't do limbs.
Jimmy poked his eye out? Sorry, God's busy curing an ulcer in Sheboygan. God doesn't do eyes.
Bottom of the transplant list? Sorry, God's busy granting the prayers of every rapper who ever won an album. God doesn't do organs, peeps. Peace.

I know people have changed their beliefs. While Yahoo Answers might be an unlikely forum for that, I wouldn't rule it out. The power we debate is bigger than any of us, regardless of what you call it. It's no more circular than believing that the big bang actually happened or even that 2 + 2 = 4. Everyone is exercising faith; it's just a matter of whether they believe a science book or a book of faith. In either case, people believe something not actually proved to them, but merely asserted as a truth.

Debates, talks, etc isn't want converts people. But the words that were placed on their heart... so G_D may wake them.
I walked as an atheist for 30 yrs. Said like most, if there is a G_D He should show me basics. Sight, healing, proof of His power.
Well at 30 I was shown all of those 3 items. 1 is on picture, second multiple doctors saw and the 3rd my gma witnessed with me. The only person I trusted to have my back.
Took me 7 yrs of walking the fog trying to figure it all out. Using my logic, intelligence, studies and schooling, I made the most logical choice.

I don't think anyone has a total concrete personality. I think we all change over time. Athiests say they don't believe in the existence of God, but many athiests do convert. Even if an athiest converts to an agnostic, that's a start. Every day we learn something and are presented with information that affects our point of view and perceptions of life.

I answer this question the same basic way every time.
God wanted me. That's the bottom line. He only wants some people, and so gives them the ability to respond to Him. That's called 'being led by the Spirit', or 'being drawn by the Father.'
Jesus said it this way:
44"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: 'They will all be taught by God.'"
( John 6 )
So that's why I am a Christian. God wanted me. I would otherwise not want to, and not even be interested in being a believer in God. It also says that it's not in man's nature to go God's way. We are naturally against Him, in rebellion of Him. So the desire comes from God, and people like me have responed to Him.

i do not know what i believe right now to be honest.
sometimes i feel the world might be a better place if the concept of God didn't exist because of how people have been fighting over this for the past million years.
maybe that has been the problem the whole time.

I believe in God because someone I consider an authority told me (verbal testimony). Also, because I have compared what I was told to other ideas I have confirmed (comparison). Then, if you can believe me, I have experienced God (experience). If Science says nothing can result from nothing, only God can be a plausible first cause that started it all (inference). Yet He is not a thing.

There is no proof of god. And the concept of god that religious people teach is highly flawed but they will use cop-out answers as well as circular reasoning to claim that god is real

For starters, your assertion that "Christians are still going to be Christians, atheists will still be atheists" is flawed
By example, I was born a Christian and am now an atheist.
Reason: NO PROOF

I was never raised to know God. So, I never new about God and religion until I was about 15 years old. Now I believe in God. I believe in God because it seems to answer most of my problems and questions. And it makes sense to me. I also believe in God because my friends are believers. But I also respect non-believers too.
