When my parents moved from Pennsylvania to Florida, we had to stay with my aunt and uncle for a few months. My dad was very abusive to us kids, and when we stayed with my aunt and uncle it was the happiest time of my life. My aunt and uncle loved to go fishing, and would take me and my brothers and sisters with them. My aunt would make special treats for us, and my uncle would play games with us. Although they couldn't do anything about the way my father was treating us, they gave us a lot of love and attention, something my father did not do. My aunt and uncle have since died, and I still look back on the years I spent with them and smile. I am so grateful they were an important part of my life growing up.

One good thing about my family is that they can always make me smile. When I am having the worst day at work and nothing seams to be going right all I have to do is call my husband and it make me feel better or I can go get my little girls and when they look at me for the first time all day and they smile and squeal out of excitement to see me everything else in the world fades away.

Wow, I had a great time growing up because my father was one of 10 children and they were all close. My father and his brothers and sisters would get together for holidays - at Christmas time we weren't allowed to take down the tree or put away presents until all of my aunts and uncles and their families had been to see us and we had to make the rounds to all their houses as well. My father's birthday was January 1st so we always had a great New Year's Eve party to celebrate and his family was always part of it. Most of my aunts and uncles had at least 4 or more kids and I was extremely close to my cousins. As families we would all go camping together and us kids would hang out together and we would all go crabbing together and fishing and then go back and eat at who ever's camper had what we felt like eating for dinner on the grill. Since there was always a "gang" of us our parents never worried about us. My family was the only one with a pool so most summers my cousins and aunts/uncles would come over to swim and have bbq's or picnics. I have the greatest memories of visits to family and cousins just to play and parents would be talking in the kitchen or out on the porch and we kids would be playing in the yard. We always hated it when the adults said it was time to go. We just had a family reunion and over 200 people came and last night my cousin who lives in Florida called and we were remeniscing about our childhood and early adulthoods. Having a very loving and large extended family made my childhood wonderful! Each aunt had a special talent that was always shared with the kids. One aunt did ceramics and we would meet at her house and learn about ceramics and paint our choice of item and fire it in the kilm and then pick it up the next week and do another. Another aunt loved to crochet and to this day I do also. Another aunt loved handmade crafts and was forever showing us something she whipped up. My uncle was extremely good with engines and would help anybody who had a mechanical question. Another aunt had a farm and loved to have us come help her on it, she even let me name a piglet after myself. My godmother and her family were almost as close to us as blood relatives. My godmother had a green thumb and taught me all about plants, both inside and outside ones. I hope I share just a small portion of all that my family has shared with me over the years.
My grandpa and grandma on my dad's side died before I was 9, and my mom's mom died when I was eleven and she was a bit strick. she was of the old school and believed that children should be seen and not heard, and she also believed that children should eat what the adult put on their plate (and I think she made liver and onions just to be mean). She also would put out candy dishes with all sorts of great looking candy and then swat your hand if you dared to try to take a piece (it was to be offered if you had been especially well behaved only).
My father had a stroke when I was only 14. His sister and her family were especially close to us and whenever my father had to go back into the hospital I would call her son, who would come stay with me and comfort me through the hard time until my mom called to say my dad would be okay. This was the same sister who made my father a crocheted blanket to keep him warm after the stroke (and I still have the blanket). If you need anything else you can e-mail me at tersey562@yahoo.com.
Good luck with your report and God Bless.

my family gives me warmth and comfort. Whenever I'm exhausted after a long day at work my family rejuvinates and inspires me. When I think that I'll be coming home soon I feel refreshed and renewed.

Do your own homework, I'm sure you can figure this out in your own family.
