Richard Petty won 27 races in 1967. In the modern era, the most wins in one season is 13 by Jeff Gordon in 1998. Jimmie is not a threat for beating that record and it will be hard for ANY driver to do that with the leveling of the playing field and COT but he did climb into the top 10 for all time winning percentage of drivers with over 100 races in the cup series. He is now up to 14.35%, just ahead of Ned Jarrett at 14.25%.
