Your FINE!!

My dogs love jerky as a treat.

Not enough "ONION" to hurt anything. Its only an ingrdient in the sauce it was marinated in.

Well before I beat up my neighbour or took the dogs to the ER I'd take a chill pill and stop being so dramatic. My god.. ONION!! It takes quite a lot of onion to make a dog ill, now if your neighbour had been feeding them raw onions or something then you could get on your soap box but from the looks of the ingredients it's trace amounts of onion and that might only hurt your dog if they're hand-sized. I'm guessing your neighbour didn't intend to hurt the dogs after all it was turkey jerky or so they thought. Dogs are amazing animals capable of digesting the most disgusting of things so get a grip.

onions take quite an amount of ingestion to cause any real problems so i doubt that bag divided between your 3 dogs will do any perminent damage other than some upset tummies.

i would would keep an eye on them for now if they develop any belleding or seem sick other than an upset tummy off to the vets.

then go have a strong word (do not be agressive) with your neighbor, explain that they cannot eat anythign like that and youd apreciate it if they didnt feed your dogs ANYTHING, explain that your dogs have sensitive stomachs and if they do this again they will be paying for the vets care.

and dont leave your dogs alone outside where your neighbors can feed them this stuff...
for all you know it could have been rat poisen or antifreeze (yes neighbors have purposely poisend dogs) in which case your dogs wouldnt be so lucky!

Instead of posting questions here, why don't you check out a veterinary question and answer web site and see what they have to say? Try Google or Yahoo Internet search. If this can really do some harm, you should NOT be waiting for an answer here. But if after an hour they are OK, then most likely no harm was done. But talk to your neighbor and insist they not feed your dogs anything without your OK. Period. If he or she does not agree, involve the police as what your neighbor might do is unintentionally poison your dogs.

Wow! That's definitely not a dog treat. Were you around when this happened? Or were they outside when your neighbor fed this to them? How big are your dogs? If they are little, then they very well may get sick. Larger dogs seem to be able to handle a bigger quantity of such things without too much trouble. I'd call your vet, and have a very serious talk with your neighbor. Explain to him that they are on a strict dog-food diet only and have sensitive stomachs. Under no circumstances should he be feeding your dogs without your permission.

I would call the vet and see if they think that you should take your dog in, take the bag of jerky to show the vet. Chances are the onion is not enough to do any great damage. If the dogs throw up, I would put it in a ziplock bag and when you go to talk civil to your neighbor hand it to him/her and explain that some foods are not for dogs. Maybe they'll barf too!!!!

Depending on the size of the dogs, it probably will not be a problem. If they are tiny, you should take them to the vet, but since the onions are so far down the list there probably isn't really that much in it. You will want to watch for signs of stomach upset (vomiting, diarrhea, refusal to eat, etc.) and blood in the stool and urine.

There's nothing wrong with it. What's the problem?

I actually wish I had a bag now myself, assuming it's not doggy treats.

Maybe you should file a report with the police? Maybe they should take your dogs away for allowing this horrible thing to happen?

"Dogs develop hemolytic anemia if they eat enough onions. I don't think that it matters too much
whether the onions are cooked or not. The quantity of onions required is high enough that dogs
can generally tolerate small doses of onions without any problem."

Since onion is the 9th most abundant ingredient I think you can relax. Not to mention it's divided among 3 dogs. What an alarmist. I'm glad you aren't MY neighbor.

Some of these answers crack me up. The tiniest trace amounts of onion divided among 3 dogs are people are telling you to go to the vet and the Humane Society and stuff. Wow! Talk about freaking out over practically nothing.

Actually, I've changed my mind. Go beat up your neighbor and I'll watch for you on COPS on TV.

The dogs are way more important than your skanky neighbor. Take them to the ER vet first and make sure they are ok (are they??). Then I would do something drastic to your neighbor. When I was younger we used to put sugar in someone's gas tank that needed a good lesson. It's a bit drastic though cause it will destroy the engine of his car. Maybe just beating the crap out of him would do.

Speak to your neighbor. They may not know onions can harm dogs. You can explain that your dogs are on a special diet and it won't work if other people are feeding them treats. This only applies if they are normal people. If they meant harm then you need to keep your dogs supervised so this doesn't happen again. If it happens again you need to speak to the police. Good luck.

They will just have a stomach problem because of some of the spices in it, but it won't kill them. Definitely talk to your neighbor about feeding you dogs without owner;s permission. If he had fed your dogs something potentially hazardous with malicious intent, then I would report it.
