The NSA, the CIA, and several other covert government and military organizations track all activity... not just online, but also on telephones, both landline and cellular. They use software that targets key words, phrases, and combinations of words. They track purchases of many items (from hardware to books and just about anything else you might buy). RFID chips are attached to almost everything these days. ( go and see www.verichipcorp.com ).
Your cellphone emits a signal every 6 seconds. That signal eventually connects with GPS satellites, identifying your position... this is how you are able to go mobile to begin with. Furthermore, there is a GPS tracking chip within the cellphone that gives the government a "back-door" into listening in on any phone conversation they choose.

As for computers and internet... keystroke logging software and various other methods... spyware, adware, etc. are used for tracing your every move online. This is also how you get spam and other nonsense in your e-mail. They all use the same basic methods, and yes, they are all interconnected.

When you get on line you are on a 'public highway'... Considering that not only law-abiding citizens use it, so do terrorists, pedophiles, and every other low form of life as well.

We live in an information age and information is what keeps governments in control of everything...It's really not a matter of 'if they can', they will and do follow on line activities.

It's a catch-22, it infringes on our privacy but at the same time it can also stop a lot of illegal activities and possibly save many lives.

If you are not doing anything illegal I wouldn't worry about it...

yes. The government has ordered all servers, to provide any records they request on any person. In addition, any email or posting that contains certain "key" words, is automatically flagged and is then read and a determination is made if follow up needs to be done on that person or persons involved. In addition, all phone calls are treated the same way.

Of course it can. NSA (National Security Agency) is responsible for all communications within or outside the country. They search for some "keys" (words, for example "bomb", "terrorist" etc.), NSA computer founds it and Analise, if it thinks that there is a threat and sends information to real agent, who re-Analise all information and decides wehat to do next.
