Zoloft is an SSRI (Selective Seritone Reuptake Inhibitor). It helps people with depression, anxiety and OCD. Since you saw an improvement with Zoloft, and then a problem without it, chances are Zoloft was the reason for your improvement, and you should continue taking it. The problem with natural things is they are not regulated so you may not be getting the same thing in one pill or one bottle to the next. With regulated perscription drugs, you are.

Medications are typically prescribed for panic disorders, and one of the best medications is Zoloft. The bond between Zoloft and panic attack is very well known , as Zoloft and panic attack has tested to be very effective .
The drug Zoloft is one of the newer anti depressants on the market nowadays, it's FDA approved, administered orally and contains sertraline hydrochloride. This medication is known to manage depression, certain types of social anxiety conditions, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). In addition, Zoloft is not addictive and is not linked with weight gain.
The intent for Zoloft and panic attack is that the drug aims to alleviate the symptoms of clinical depression without many side effects. It's used to handle symptoms of depression and also anxiety, and Zoloft works by acting on the neurotransmitter called serotonin, thereby permitting electrical messages to be processed more smoothly and efficiently .

I would try learning how to self-manage your symptoms. This type of help can be found in groups or counseling sessions. to get you started:
learn to identify those things that cause you anxiety and learn to identify how your body reacts to that anxiety. After you have done that make sure that you do NOT avoid those things that cause you anxiety. That will only increase your overall fear and further increase your anxiety. Continue to face those things that cause you anxiety by using stress reducing techniques i.e. deep breathing, muscle relaxation, visualization whatever works for you. You should always consult your doctor before discontinuing medications, changes can always be made to dosing, ect to ensure that you are more compliant with your medications (if you want to take them or need them). Be careful taking any natural herbs or supplements...they are not approved by FDA and have not been completely cleared to be safe, in addition, they may cause side-effects with any other medications that you may be on. Good Luck!

I've been taking Zoloft for 8 years for anxiety. I wouldn't recommend you stop taking medication without your doctors approval. Why not ask your doctor for another medication for anxiety? I would GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR and explain your concerns. Take care of yourself. Good Luck!

I am surprised that you were prescribed Zoloft for anxiety. It is an anti-depressant. If you are looking for something natural, Valerian Root supports relaxation. I purchase my vitamins and various other things from Puritan Pride. If you go to their website and type in anxiety, they will give suggestions on things that will help. Good luck

If you are not going to do what your doctor recommends, and think you know more about what is happening with you than he/she does, why do you bother to go to one in the first place? People go thru decades of training and practise to be able to call themselves professionals.....then folks like you go to them expecting god only knows what, but you won't follow thru because what they know will work in the long run isn't giving you what you want in the short run. Well, you have no one to blame but yourself. If you only took the zoloft for two months, you didn't take it anywhere near long enough for it to be truly effective, and I am certain your doctor told you this. What you seem to want is a magic cure for your issues, one where you are not required to do a thing for yourself. Well, welcome to reality, sometimes you have to commit to doing some of what it takes, including some lesser side effects to avoid the horrendous symptoms the drug is intended to treat. As for "natural", guess what, most if not all of those antidepressant meds, including zoloft come from PLANT EXTRACTS, you can't get more "natural", but you can certainly get less pure, go to any healthfood store and have a ball, but none of them will work, and many will make you seriously ill. But you know better don't you? You go right ahead and prove me wrong, I won't hold my breath waiting for that tho.

Did the doctor take you off?
If not you need to talk to him\her.
Did you just stop, or did you decrease your
dose size? If not that's what you need to do.
To get off any medications you need to
decrease the size of the pill your taking
You can't just stop. It's a shock to your
system and it's just going to be nervous.
I'm taking lexapro and when I try to get off of it
I decrease in size, but I Just become more nervous.
Talk to you doctor about putting you on a different
medication.

This is called withdrawl. Every time I have ever been on an antidepressant, I was told not to stop taking it suddenly. You have to be weaned off it to make sure you don't suffer any adverse affects. You need to start taking it again ASAP, and go to your doctor immediately and ask him to wean you off it. Don't ever stop taking something like suddenly.
