it is difficult to rent a cheap apartment for only two weeks.

For 2 weeks - unless you personally know someone there - you may as well stay in a cheap hotel. There are many cheap hotels ($30-$50/day) that have mini-kitchens too (called serviced apartments) - if that is what you want it for. Try any internet hotle booking site such as passionasia.com, asiarooms.com etc. The other option is to meet a nice thai person on your first day there (at a bar?) and ask to stay with them for your visit - you may get lucky. But staying in a 'cheap room' of a house for 2 weeks is basically like staying in a 'cheap hotel'.

Without more info, define cheap to me cheap is under USD 50 a night. Your definition may be different.
Do you prefer it near a certain area?
