Huh! These are the same people who also believe that no one else cheats! OK!!! It's just a case of jealousy. I'm not a HMS fan, by any means, but they do what they have to do to win races. I'm sure every other team is doing what they have to do as well. Some just have more resourses to do it with $$$$$$. That's not cheating, that's being better prepared! LOL...NASCAR is not handing anything to HMS, or anybody else.

I think if NASCAR favored Hendrick they would have left the point system alone since Gordon lost the Championship in 2004 under the Chase format.... a Championship he would have won under the OLD point system. And what about this year? He would have had the Championship locked up a couple of races ago under the old system.
And if NASCAR was cheating, don't you think when the 48 and 24 failed the inspection on a fender that was off so little that most people probably couldn't find that measurement on their tape measure they would have ignored it instead of suspend the crew chiefs for 6 races?
The idea that NASCAR would risk their reputation which would cost them millions and millions of dollars is ridiculous. And I don't think Gordon or Johnson would even want to win that way.
When Michael Jordon was with the Bulls and they won their total of 6 championships, people claimed that the refs cheated then too. I think it happens anytime someone is better and people cannot face the fact that their favorite is not as good.
And for those who don't know NASCAR history, there was always a provisional... it was just different. Anytime someone like Gordon, Stewart, or Johnson failed to qualify for a race they could use owner points to make sure they were in. The following site gives some information on how it USED to be. Please note the section on Gordon! LOL

It's NASCAR's responsibility to catch and punish cheating. NASCAR has to be thorough in inspections and stern on offenders to prevent cheating from happening. Otherwise, it will happen, because of the huge performance advantage it gives you...not dissimilar from steriod abusers in baseball.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I would not be so quick to say that Hendrick (or any other NASCAR team) isn't cheating in some way or another. I really have no idea. All I'm saying is that if they are cheating, then it's NASCAR's obligation to catch them, punish them, and prevent it from happening again.
Look at Formula 1. I'd say the $100 million dollar fine against McLaren for cheating will dissuade McLaren from ever even thinking about cheating again. NASCAR has not been nearly that strict, which gives an opportunity for teams to try it and get away with it.

With Jr going to HMS next year I'm sure he was just helping out his future teammate with the tire deal at the end : ) JK, it is funny to see all the theories and excuses that the haters come up with. For me it's more entertaining than the comics in the newspaper. They will NEVER accept the fact that Jimmie and Jeff are awesome talents that win the most because they are the best. There were a LOT worse infractions this year than what the 24 and 48 teams tried at Sonoma, knowing it would get noticed by the officials, but somehow they got the harsher penalties. Yep, that really shows favoritism. Like them or not they ARE the elite drivers now and will continue to be as long as they are driving fulltime in the cup series.

NASCARS best case scenario.
36 Races - 36 different winners
12 Chase drivers seperated by 12 points going into homestead
winner not confirmed till the checkered flag
Having 1 or 2 drivers is NOT in NASCARS best interest. And Hendricks and DuPont is NOT paying off NASCAR in order for one of them to win.
Jeff and Jimmy are just two of the best drivers in NASCAR, they have two of the best Crew Chiefs and they drive for an owner that gives them the tools necessary to win.
Anyone who truely believes otherwise really just needs to go ahead and quit watching, your going to be dissappointed for a long time. At least till one or both retire.

They were caught "cheating" before Sonoma. Gordon and Johnson drive the cars, and I know Chad Knaus pushes buttons, but as far as cheating goes, I don't think so. Yesterday was well within the rules that one attempt is made after a caution on the last lap. Earnhardt wrecked, the race was over. I am a Carl Edwards fan who was frustrated he did not get a chance, but Jimmie Johnson did not have NASCAR's help to win the race. I can't think of a race that NASCAR "gave" them or anyone else. Years ago Gordon won a couple of races where a phantom caution came out for a hot dog wrapper and he was 6 seconds out of first, but ended up winning but that has been over 10 years ago.

I think that the point of this is everyone wants to make up a story or a cause that is the reason why they are winning so much because they dont want to accept the fact that they are both really talented drivers with excellent equipment and crews. I think that people are just naive and they dont want to like them and they dwell on the past when Gordon's car looked like the gay pride parade flag so they still refer to him like that instead of accepting the new, and they try to make others feel bad and make them feel superior.

Their crew cheifs have been caught in the past cheating, but that is not the reason these two are winning. They are good drivers and yes, they along with their crew chiefs push the rules. Sometimes they are caught, but they are not the only drivers who cheat.
My only complaint is with NASCAR. Make the drivers QUALIFY for every race! It is just like John Force said, "We have to qualify for our races." He also explained fans new that and accepted they may NOT QUALIFY for some races.
So, if NASCAR is going to accuse and punish drivers and crew chiefs of CHEATING it must look at itself and tell sponsors the real rules are back. Every car must qualify. And please, stop having reporters on tv make qualifying look like it is a challenge for 7 or sometimes 6 drivers trying to make the race.

I don't think its right that when Jeff or Jimmie win people want to say that they didn't win fairly. I remember when Roush was winning everything for a while, no one was saying that it was fixed or anything like that, what difference does it make that its Hendrick cars instead of Roush now?
Those Hendrick cars and drivers are great, they know how to win, have people thought of that possibility instead of saying thats its fixed all the time?

I hate reading about it over and over too. Yes their teams got caught in some grey areas because HMS is known to try everything in the book. That is what makes them so good. There is a lot of teams that got caught trying things they shouldn't have this year. Everybody was fined, and points were taken away for the majority. Depends on the level of infraction. Nobody has given them anything, and for people to imply that is just jealousy. NASCAR does not hand them wins. They are among (if not) the best there is.
