It depends on what you like to do. If you are looking to chill out and get a tan, then you can find great prices to the Caribbean or Cancun. If you like camping and wilderness, you can do a very affordable trip up to Alaska. It is a little late in the year for Alaska now, but end of July is great there.
To this day, my best vacation was to the Galapagos Islands. It ended up running around $3000 total, but that included all flights, food, and expenses.

We just returned from an All-inclusive in Cancun. The price including airfare was $250 more than going to a resort area in the next state over. The experience was GREAT. Get your passport early.
We were able to swim on the reef, take in plenty of sun, experience people from all over the world, and eat & drink all we wanted. What a deal!

If the Caribbean is your cup of tea,I'd recommend Belize. It's small,English speaking, with a vast variety of things to see. Cloud Forrest, jungle,Mayan ruins, off shore snorkeling and Scuba sports, inexpensive guided tours, and lots of other great attractions.
It's not the Spring break, get roaring drunk, kind of vacation spot, but it does have a lot to offer for nature lovers and adventurous types.
Do a little research. I'm sure there are more than a few web sites to explore.
