I have a PDF file and I want to be able to type/enter on to but it is not letting me. I know I am unable to save what I type on it. It says it's allowing me but I still can't type on it. Can anyone help me with this? The properties are the same as another PDF file that I have and I can type/enter on to that one. Any suggestions?

I doubt you can make changes to the PDF file you view in Adobe Reader unless it is a form which is programmed to accept information. Most PDFs I have viewed are locked.

You could save a copy of the PDF to disk, convert it to editable text with OCR, then either type on it or use text boxes to enter data. There is a free online converter at

Solid Converter PDF to Word allows for the conversion of a form from PDF to Word while maintaining the form's layout including boxes and form fields. Form fields are recognized and converted into text boxes for easy editing.

If the form is scanned, the easiest way to enter information onto a scanned form is as follows:

1. Open Solid Converter PDF and convert the PDF form to an RTF file.
2. Open the converted RTF file in Word or other word processing software.
3. Create text boxes on top of the fields where you need to enter data. In Word, you can do this by selecting View|Toolbars|Drawing from the menu (if the drawing menu is not open already) and clicking the text icon. You can then drag a text box over the area where you want to add information.

To remove formatting from the text box, first click the border of the text box to select the object. On the Drawing toolbar click the Fill icon (paint bucket) and select No Fill to remove the fill. Then click the Line icon (paintbrush) and select No Line to remove the line.
4. Type the information you want to add.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 at each location where you want to add information on the form.

Make sure you save this document if you need to use this form often. You can then change the information in the text boxes as needed.

First check whether the file is editable or not.
If the document is editable those editing options will be highlighted which means that you can only highlight the important lines and paragraphs and you can place some comments in that wherever required. pdf can save all these and can show you when you re-open it. If it is password protected you can not even have those tools visible.

To edit pdf documents..I mean to type in some text in the same file there are many softwares (some are free too..) to do so. You can search for them in google.
