Probably. I enjoyed the books.

Look, I really don't understand what all the fuss is about with it being "anti-God." If you'd read the books, it'd be pretty obvious to you that 1.) there's no hidden agenda. It's all right out in the open and 2.) it's a fantasy series. Yes, there are characters who talk about killing the being who calls itself "God" and a church which tortures children (among other things vaguely "religious" in nature). There are also parallel universes which can be accessed by using a special knife, talking warrior polar bears, magical flying witches, a people whose souls live outside of them in the form of animal daemons, etc. etc. It's not reality.

I am now. I was just in the bookstore getting a coffee when a wingnut started ranting about the books being evil. I bought a set for myself and my nephew. I also told him Id take him to the movie.

Honestly I had no intention of seeing it when I first heard of it. I really don't like NIcole Kidman, but now thanks to people like you I'm intrigued.

Yes, even though I'm an atheist, I read the books and did not get an anti religion feel from them. They were a little dark, and I'd recommend previewing the movie before taking young children.

No, I am planning on watching it with my boyfriend....

Wait, no, is she in the movie? I don't get the question, sorry...

Well, either way, I am going to see the film - having read and enjoyed the trilogy I would like to see what they have made of it on screen. Hopefully it will be a good adaptation.

I was thinking about it because it looks like an interesting fantasy romp.... "Lord of the Rings" was well done and so was "Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe".

I might watch it after it is out on DVD, because it sounds interesting and I am grounded in my faith - but if I had kids I would definitely NOT take them to see it because it has an anti-God message aimed at steering children away from spirituality.

Maybe after it's out on DVD, it looks like something my son and I will both enjoy. But we're probably going to read the books first.
