How can you NOT be more dominant to a puppy!? It's a puppy and you control all the resources, you don't need to bully it or worry about where your head is in relation to the dog. Why not find a puppy training class so you can learn how to teach the dog what you want it to do instead of just trying to always stop it from doing something you don't want. It's a puppy and doesn't understand what you want and it's easier to get a dog to do what you want if you understand how they learn. They repeat behaviors they get rewarded for, so reward it for the behaviors you want. Teach it some basic commands like sit and stay (using treats as rewards) to help the dog learn how people communicate and what we want from our dogs.

hi your puppy is fighting for your place in the pack she wants to be alpha female and you need to stop this now follow these rules and she will learn quickly
first make sure she doesn't get any attention for 5Min's when you or your boyfriend come in make sure you greest each other first.
second have a place you put her away from you if she does anything you don't like but allow her three attempts before isolating her and make her stay there for 5Min's when she rejoins you don't make a fuss of her for 5Min's then call her to you if she comes praise her if not ignore her for another 5Min's then try again if she still don't come then ignore her and when she comes to you ignore her until you are ready to speak to her she will soon learn you are boss and she must do what you say as long as you are consistent

First, enroll in a puppy class asap!!!!
Second, she must earn anything she wants. Leaders are in charge of resources. When she sees that she gets what she wants when you get what you want, she will behave better with you. Have her sit, down, or do a trick before she gets her dinner, is pet, gets to play, goes outside, is allowed on the furniture (if you allow that), etc. If she doesn't do what you ask (the first time!), she doesn't get what she wanted.
Also, begin to give her a treat when you pick her up. She will eventually look forward to it instead of telling you to knock it off.

When we first got our dogs, anytime theey miss behaved, we would correct them but when they became defiant, we would have a staring contest (never look away) I used this to establish dominance, and stand my ground with a doxie, a min pin and a boxer/pit, so I know this works, also when you correct, we always tried to be on the floor, close to their level but always a little above... Good Luck

First of all never put your head lower then hers, this a sign of authority. Make sure you punish her hard especially if she is intentionally being mean and not just playing. My dogs worship my dad because if they do somthing bad he will yell at them and send them to their beds. Its kinda funny because they do not do that with me since we first got them when I was little.
