The Chronicles Of Narnia was written by a Christian.
If some religious leader ordered me to not see a movie, I would go see it just for that reason.
Anyone who assumes to have the right to order what I choose to see is a megalomaniac, in my opinion.

While I do know that it does portray the church and, in the later books, the 'Authority' as antagonists, it doesn't mean that it's not a good story (apart from the cliché ending..). Anyone who chooses not to see it because it "goes against their religion" is just missing out on good cinema, their loss. It's not up to them to make the decision for others though.
Northern Lights (aka, The Golden Compass) was one of the best books I ever read, I hope the transition to screen goes well - from the trailers so far I've only been marginally impressed :/ (what's with Iorik's armour being all ornate)

There were a couple of questions about this last Friday. I read the books before I knew that they were "atheist propaganda" but didn't really pick up any anti religious overtones.
I'll go see the movie, it was an interesting story and looks like it will be a good movie.

Other than seeing a few posts on here, no one has mentioned that I shouldn't go and see it. I have never read any of the books, had no idea that an atheist wrote it and wouldn't care anyways. I go to movies to get away from real life for a few hours. I saw the trailer when I went and saw the last Harry Potter movie and decided it looked cool and I wanted to see it.

I am counting the hours until this movie comes out and I've put the entire set of books on my wish list. It's so exciting that my POV is finally represented in a film. It's not just a film the Christians find offensive... it's one that stabs their belief in the heart. And I'm all for that. If it will open just ONE eye to the truth, I'll cheer.

They're just getting defensive because atheism is whittling their numbers down. They know that if people get a taste of the freedom and empowerment that atheism brings they will convert immediately. They don't want the young impressionable minds to be opened to reality and truth..... they don't want those young minds to acquire knowledge and make their own decisions. They want everyone to be religious..... or christian to be more specific. Nobody else is boycotting the movie, it's just the christians because they're the ones who stand to lose followers if anyone else sees the truth.

I think that the people who are up in arms about this film seem to have missed the point of the books or not read them at all.

I've got it from a source that's very reliable that the books are amazing. I'm going to pick them up today, and hopefully get through them before the movie comes out.

Yes, I've had a few online friends (Christians) tell me that I shouldn't go to see that movie because a "Hateful Atheist wrote it to destroy Christianity" *Sigh* I'm still going to see it lol

I was looking at one of the books in the series at a bookstore this weekend when someone started ranting about it being satanic and evil.
I was just in there to get a coffee and browse but I ended up buying the whole series for myself and my nephew.
