Not immediately, and maybe not at all. Only if you Go Green and are sent to FMSS and are assigned to a Marine unit that is due to deploy.
Not every HM goes Fleet Marine Force, and not every FMF sees combat.

It depends on what you will do after HM A school. You could become a fleet marine force corpsman and be the "medics" for the Marines. Yes you would be going to war after training with your unit. There is also corpsmen assigned to every type of ship.In where you take care of the crew of your particular ship. And yes, your ship will deploy but the deployments can vary as to location. Being a shipboard corpsman can lead to becoming IDC (independent duty corpsman) Where you are the senior medical person on the ship.(not all ships have doctors, only the big ships) Usually you must be an E-5 or above for this duty and I believe there is an IDC school you have to attend. Lastly, there are HMs that work in the large Navy hospitals. I have met HMs that have never been to sea, they have spent thier careers working in phamacies and radiology departments in the Navy hospitals all over the world. Much of where you will go depends on what path or specialty you intend to follow. Good Luck!

Well after bootcamp you will go to Aschool which is 14 weeks then u go to FMSS which is 8 or 9 weeks then you go to your duty station which can be a hospital, Marine unit or a ship. I doubt u will go overthere after FMSS cause u have no skills you would probably get sent to a hospital but u go where the Navy needs you so you never know. If you are sent with the Marines do you job, listen to what they tell you cause they want to keep u safe. If you are sent to a ship well good luck with cramped quarters i could never be on the blue side im green all through. If u have questions there are a few of us salty Docs around here that will help u out Good Luck.

you will go to corps school first, this is a 14 week long "A" school, then you will either go to Camp Johnson, on the east coast to Field medical service school, or the one on the west coast don't remember were it is located at this time. from there you will either go to a hospital, a ship or to a marine corps division. If you go to a hospital, or to the "Green Side" mardiv, you are most likely going to be deployed to a combat zone. i say this about the hospital do to the fact the have what is called a Field hospital that can be deployed.if you do go to a mardiv, and you are place with your marines the best advice i can give you is to get in there and learn from them,, learn there job, and work with them when they train, they will respect you for this, and know your job as a Corpsman they will be relying on you for this when the lead starts flying. you will be known as the new squid when you first arrive but if you do like i have said in short order you will notice them start calling you "DOC" this is the greatest honor a marine can bestow upon a CORPSMAN, this mean they respect and trust you to be by there side no matter what, and they know you ave the skills to work a marine as well as a corpsman. to this day i wish i was still green side with my marines.

No. You will have to attend and graduate from Class "A" Hospital Corps School to become a Hospital Corpsman. Then you will have to attend and graduate from Field Medical Service School to be assigned the Naval Enlisted Classification of HM-8404 (Field Medical Technician). At that point in time you can be assigned to Fleet Marine Forces. Assuming that all of your training proceeds in quick sequence, it will be about six months after enlistment before you will be ready to serve with America's "Sailors of the Sea".

Your probably going to go to the war. You may be part of a fleet hospital unit or attached on land, with a Marine Corps unit. Anything medical from any branch of service especially the Army and Marines, are in dire need. Remember, the Marines do not have their own medical personnel-the Navy provides them. That's you!

After basic, no. No one does. But after you complete your advanced training, you have just as good a chance of being deployed as anyone else.
