The shakiness is a physical withdrawal symptom and will likely subside within another few days at most. But the anxiousness and nervousness are mental symptoms that may unfortunately take longer. It's hard to tell how long; it really depends on the person, how long you were on it and how much you took. Did you quit cold turkey and on your own? If you can, I would suggest you see a doctor that can help you with your withdrawal. There is a new drug out there called Suboxone that eliminates 99% of opiate withdrawal symptom within a few hours of taking it. It also helps with cravings and is an opiate blocker (so it's a double safety against relapse. If you take any Vicodin while taking the Suboxone, it will have no effect on you mentally). Suboxone can be expensive and only certain doctors have special licenses to prescribe it. But if you have insurance, I highly suggest you consider it. Some people take it for a few weeks and taper down their dosage, then stop it all together. Others take it for up to a year to help maintain their sobriety. If you can't or don't want to go on the Suboxone, then I suggest working out, meditating and going to meetings. Your body and mind were used to getting the Vicodin and now they're kicking and screaming as to where it is. It'll take time for your body and mind to adjust to producing natural opiates and not craving the synthetic kind at high dosages. It's a very tough addiction to kick; I'm proud of you. Keep up the good work.

it really depends on how long you've been on it, and how many you took during the day. its usually a whole lot easier if you stop gradually, like cutting your amount by half every week. anxiety is one of the WORST symptoms of vicodin withdrawl, i would get it sometimes if I went even a couple hours without some. anyway, I'd suggest taking a very small dosage to take the edge off for a few weeks then stopping alltogether, and symptoms should disappear after a couple weeks or so.

I have been off narcotics for 1YR TODAY!!! I know for me, at least, two weeks of not sleeping, couldn't eat, really, really anxious and was so shaky i couldn't even keep my balance.. My heart would beat so fast that i had sunglasses on and my pulse on my temples would knock my sunglasses down on my nose. It is a horrible feeling, but has a great reward... hang in there and before you know it, it will be gone... Just try your best not to focus on your heartracing, if at all possible do something that would normally make your heart race and you will not think of it as much (that way it kinda feels normal) if that makes since to you? By the way i am very proud of the time you have clean, STAY STRONG

it is indeed a side effect of withdrawal from almost any narcotic, and it will go on for almost as long as you took the drug. Hang in there.
