Apparently a decision has been made about who is going to play Kurt Cobain in yet another movie, and glancing over this article reminded me that when these actors are chosen someone, somewhere will have an issue with it.

So if you were in charge of casting for a movie about your favorite artists, who would you pick to portray them? And if a film has already been done about them, do you agree with the choice that was made?

Hmm, how bout Nick Nolte as Tom Waits =) Who knows, it could be good...
And while we're on the topic, has Cate Blanchett been cast in the role of Bob Dylan, or was that just crazy dream I had? Also, I heard a while back that a Jeff Buckley biopic was in the offing? Has anyone been chosen to play him yet? I'll have to google it and find out.
Edit:
Doesn't look like the role's been filled yet. Good call on James Franco lovnrckets, although I think I'd pick Cillian Murphy for it:

Let's see...
Chris Farley as Fat Gene Simmons
David Spade as Effeminate Paul Stanley
Gary Busey as Intoxicated Ace Frehley
and finally Steve Guttenberg as the Washed-Up Has-Been Peter Criss
NP: "Let's Talk About It Later" - Hughes Turner Project
***And I'll 3rd Angela Bassett... great movie.
***Sookie, Busey's portrayal of Buddy Holly was awe inspiring. Holly's surviving family members have said that they could not watch the film because Busey nailed all of his mannerisms, his look, and his speech.
I should also add that Shooter Jennings was excellently cast as his father in Walk The Line.

I disagreed with Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison, but Kevin Dillon was perfect!
Angela Bassett was spot on as Tina Turner!
Michael Beach ( of ER fame) could play Lionel Richie

Gary Busey already played Buddy Holly. Done!
But if I had to pick something new:
Ewan McGregor as Joe Strummer.
I don't know why, but I think it would work out fine. McGregor can actually sing. If he dyes his hair black and stomps his left foot on the ground, he would be awesome.

Wow - let's see ... I see some similarities between Catherine Keener and Chrissie Hynde, so I'd pick Keener to play Hynde in an autobiographical movie on the Pretenders ... that'd be pretty cool, actually.

rukrym : ~
yep, it's true ~ Cate Blanchett is playing one of six versions of Bob Dylan. Two of the others are played by Richard Gere and Christian Bale.
* I also think Angella Bassett was amazing as Tina Turner :)
I really can't think of any actors who could portray my favourites...
... there just isn't anyone who feels 'right'.
