Ok so my dad was driving and had me on blue tooth cause i was asking him when he could pick me up form the party i was at. He had a hard day yesterday and someone cut him off and while they were doing so they flipped him off. So he sped up and cut them off. Then they cut him off again so he sped up a lil more and was a lil too close. And a cop pulled him over. I am still on blue tooth cause my dad never shut me off, and this cop was a real as*hole. He is like I'm gonna write you 10 tickets. I'm going to make it equal 12 points so you automatically get your lisence taken away and I am going to testify at court to make sure your license is atleast suspended. My dad goes, thats a lot, could you give me a break? And the cop goes I AM GIVING YOU A BREAK!! I AM NOT TAKING YOU TO JAIL FOR RECKLESS DRIVING!! By this time i am screaming bloody murder at the cop the most hateful words i could think of, but they couldnt hear me (thank god)...hang on there is more...

Now I'm not ms genius over here, but when you are tailgetting someone aren't you going slower then them? Therefore if you are speeding aren't they speeding too? Why didn't he pull them over? Why was he such a fuc*ing jerk to my dad? Can we fight this? Cause if my dad loses his license he wont be able to work cause he is a driver, and then he will leave to brooklyn where he has family and I don't know when I will see him agian. =[ please help

Yes the cop was like, in my whole 5 years of being a police officer I have never seen anyone drive as dangerously as you. I was yelling but pissing my pants with laughter and my friends were too. this cop thinks he knows the real world just because he is a cop doesnt mean he does. I grew up in a bad neighborhood. I know what really goes on (i'm not saying i know everything i am saying that there are more important things to worry about then being on top) i was screaming i was like...OOH!! excuse me!! 5 years!! i never knew you had sooooo much expierence!!! do you know what the people in brooklyn would say to you if they were ever pulled over for something like that? they would ldaugh in his face!! now that we live in the country i see that alot of these country hicks(no offense to any of you that are) think they know everything about the real world. They think they know what it is like to have an enemy. And this cop was one of them. I bet you he has no idea what it is like to have

your house robbed in the middle of the night or have your father taken away and beaten up for something he didn't do. Alot of these cops try and act tough becuase they have a badge. When in all actuality they don't know sh*t about the real world (granted i am still i child and i don't know everything) i still know more then they do about this obviously. Also, aren't there like ways to get cops like that suspended or something, shouldn't they have anual inpsections and things like that?

O im sorry i think some of you are misunderstanding (not sounding rude) I know my dad did not have the right to cut them off and stuff and he did deserve the a ticket, but the cop just pulled other stuff out of the air like the headlight to give him more points onhis license, tahts what i am saying is wrong.

listen lawagone or wtf your name is, why don't u try reading everything i wrote before you answer? i stated i knew my dad was wrong. just because i am sticking up for my dad and thik that the cop was being an *** hole makes me spoiled? i know the cop was doing his job. but he didn't do it in the most professional manner is what im saying. ur another one i would like to see to go to someplace like brooklyn with that attitude and see how far you get. get a life and go be a jerk somewhere else instead of insulting teenagers

HE WAS WRONG FOR WHAT HE DID BUT THE SPEEDING WAS 55 IN A 50 ZONE!! HE WAS NOT DISRESPECTFUL TO THE COP THE COP WAS DISRESPECTFUL TO HIM!! u cant tell me that anyof you have evr gotten pissed with road rage before and just because u never got caught makes it ok for my dad to get caught and makes hima bad person? fuc* all of you!! (not to the people who actually answered and were not insulting) if you have a problem with the way my dad drives thats fine that ur opinion, but answer my questions people its not that hard. now i look like the bad guy but u know what? i dont care. report me if u want. but next time asnwer my questions =] cause i can always make another account. all i wanted 2 know was if a cop could do that and if he could get in trouble for being an as*hole.

see we should use mikey d as an example; for those of you who had nothing but insults look at his answer. He stated his opinions in a respectful way with calling me or my father names. He remained nuetural and din't side with anyone. THank you mikey d. (there are other good answers btw)

Your father should have done the smart thing right off and not started chasing the a**hole in the other car. He's just as guilty. Was the cop right? I think he went to a few extremes.

Yes the cop was right to do this. At least I believe so. It is hard to tell from your story, if your dad committed all the violations or if the cop made up the violations. If your dad violated all these laws, the cop is within his right to charge him for every single one of them, regardless of wither it will cause your dad to lose his license or not. Alot of times, cops will only write you up for one charge and let you go on alot of them that they could charge you for, just to cut down on the points. It sounds like the cop was watching the whole situation for a bit and correctly decided to get your father off the road, specially when your dad drives for a living. You dad was acting like an asshole and could have gotten many many people killed by driving like that, all because someone cut him off. There is no call for it. I am not saying that the other person should get away with it, but lets face it, the cop is only one person and can only pull over one person at a time. Looks like your dad wasn't the lucky one. In my opinion, the cop did the right thing, and your father has no one to blame but himself.

Tailgaiting means u are riding some1's a**. (car-wise). If the cop was a huge a**hole to your dad then if he (ur dad) has to fo to court, u should request the the cop camera and recorder they carry to be in evidence. And just so you are aware..the cop did have the right to write the tickets......just because ur dad was doing the samething the other guy was doing to him..dont make it ok 4 him to do it aswell. Lets say ur dad was pissed off cuz of this other driver, so he does it back to the other driver and isnt paying attention to things around him ( and my guess is he wasnt since he didnt see the cop and got pulled over), what if he had hit some1 and killed some1 else while just trying to get even with this other driver.....its soooo not worth it. Road rage it very very stupid. If some1 does it to you, let it slide or call the police and report it. And now days, giving some1 the finger or cutting som1 off, can get you SHOT!!

Yes, the cop can write as many tickets as he wants to...as someone else pointed out, your dad was the one that got caught. No, the cop wasn't acting in the most professional manner, and your dad can probably report him to the precinct he works for. Other than that, the best thing your dad can do is find a good attorney.

First of all I'm sure there is more to this story than you're telling. Certainly your father was not polite and professional to the police officer. Secondly your father should have just let it go. So another driver is an a##hole, doesn't give your father the right to retaliate. Obviously he has anger management problems and issues with authority, this is evidenced by the way you acted and are acting her, parents are known by the actions of their children and you are a self-righteous spoiled child. Get over it your father was wrong, put himself and everyone else on the road in danger and he did get a break by not going to jail. If I had pulled him over he would have gone to jail and his car impounded. You and your father need to grow up and learn what maturity is and why it is important.;

The police can write you a ticket for anything he wants.

But he was very unprofessional and was acting like a child.

Good policemen are allways polite and treat the public with respect.

If a policemen does not treat the public with respect, you can bet he needs to find another job.

We seem to have this cell of police around now that are drunk with power.. consider breaking the law an unwritten tool in their arsenal and will commit purjery without question.

Law enforcement has gone from being respected but underpaid.. to being jerks with guns..

Theres really not much your dad can do since it will be the cops word against your dads. Your dads just lucky the cop didn't go further and make up **** or plant something on him.

Stuff like the head light is a non moving violation it doesn't put any points on your license. Trust me I come from a law background. for the other stuff get an attorney or apply for a public defender.

people need to chill out with the road rage. run your own race and don't worry about everyone else. the simple truth of the matter is if he had left them alone, he wouldn't have gotten in trouble in the first place. not trying to be all goody-goody but hey...
