definetly...the diet that you follow ultimately determines your weight and body composition (amount of muscle and fat), exercise only plays a very small role in the equation. the more whole foods in your diet the healthier you will be and the easier it is to manage and maintain a healthy weight and body fat %. forget about the not eating after "x" time of day, there is no science behind it and it can actually impede fat loss vs accelerate it. the body needs nutrients every 3-4 hours that it is awake, and starving the body for 50% of the day will only cause the metabolic rate to slow or remain slower than it should be under normal operating conditions.

Wow i cannot tell you how many questions like this i get everyday. Well first off to answer your question simply yes you can. However, the difference between even moderate excercise as compared to not excercising at all can be pretty big. I think there is still many questions that you first need to ask yourself. First off how much weight do you want to lose? are you losing it for looks or for health reasons? how quick do you want to lose the weight? The reason i ask these questions is because the majority of questions i receieve have to do with how to make things easier. When the questions should really be how do i make things more efficient. When i get questions like yours i always help people realize, that the best things in life worth having are the things you work the hardest for. And having a good healthy body for most people is definately worth having. If you plan on losing alot of weight then i can tell you nothing will do the job like the combination of excercise and proper diet. If your doing it for health reasons. then i would tell you that excercise is the best way to strengthen and maintain a healty body. If you have a time frame for losing weight then excercise should definately be a part of that equation. And even little activities when put together can make a difference. Like parking further from work in order to walk a longer distance or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Or even simply playing with your kids. all things that just slightly increase activity and energy. I tell you this in the hopes that you will involve excercise. As far as the cutting calories in half goes. That is definately not the way to go. I would tell you exactly how to setup your calorie intake but i am a firm believer in the fact that every body is different therefore every body needs different things. So since i dont know anything about you i cannot give that advice. However, i do advise that you do atleast some reasearch so you can understand your body type and body measurements in order to realize exactly how many calories your individual body requires for weight loss. hope i helped and i hope you choose to excercise : )

My uncle lost weight without doing any exercise. He followed the 'weigh-less diet.' When he did away with the diet, he regained all the weight. If you want to lose weight, then it's best that you diet and exercise even if means exercising for just 15-20 minutes a day

Yes, if you eat very few calories you will lose weight with no exercise. As soon as you start eating normally again though, you will gain it all back, plus more. So, the smart thing to do, is to eat healthy and exercise. This is the only way to keep the weight off.

Good Luck!!

to lose weight without exercise, you need to be monitored by a doctor on a regular basis because you need to eat 800 to 1000 calories a day, and a diet that low in calorie contect needs to be monitored as it is putting the person into an anorexic situation. But without exercise, that is the only way you are going to effect weight loss.

The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did....lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won't help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don't eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i'm going pretty well if i don't say myself. 90 LBS isn't anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. If you want anymore details, feel free to email me. Just please be patient for ppl seem to email me for advice on this, I will reply, don't worry! ~Adia

It depends on your metabolism, but generally, sure, cutting your calories in half and not eating after 6 should work.

But exercise would speed things up, and bring other health benefits.

You can but it's not healthy. When dieting you need to exercise to speed up your metabolism. By not exercising you not only are losing fat but you are also losing muscle which never replaces itself.
