A good friend of mine has been sick for months now. She is eating very little, yet gaining weight at a pretty good pace. She is sleeping, on and off, around 16 hours a day. She has a pain in her ribcage. She has been to doctor after doctor after doctor and they all find nothing wrong. She has almost become an invalid at this point. Can anyone help???

She needs new doctors. It could be any of the following: intestinal blockage, renal failure, diabetic onset, gall bladder, cancer, pancreatic problems, or any of another 10 things or so or a combination of one or more issues. Get her in to see an oncologist and a GI doc. They need some imagery and/or some exploratory surgery.

It could be a thyroid imbalance. Or it could be emotional. Does your friend have a recurring thought that needs to be resolved? Fluid retention can be a need to cry, to get things out of her system. Under active thyroid can cause these symptoms. Lack of energy is also caused by this disease. Look it up on internet, if symptoms match consult a doctor fast. Or try alternative therapy. Crystals can help. Apatite is a good one for loss of appetite, loss of interest in life.

I like what Leaf said. About the possibility affects. How ever I do not know what kind of insurance she has, But if it was my Child I would want them admitted until they do all the tests necessary to find out what is the cause.
And check even Depression as a factor

Is there any chance that she is pregnant? Maybe depressed about it, that would account for the sleeping excessively. If she is close to term, pain in the rib cage is just from an enlarging infant. Just a thought.
