It bothers us because there's no evidence to suggest it's true. It's pure speculation. Feel free to speculate, but expect to get a negative response from those of us who have spent quite a bit of time researching the life of Jesus.

There is a conpriracy theory going around and has been for awhile that Jesus married Mary Magdaline and they had a daughter, that their daughter carried on the royal line or some crap like that and that his decendents are still around today.

The thing is, we are humans, we can't possibly understand anything outside of our understanding. Make sence?
So while the natural turn of events is for us to get married and have kids, Jesus didn't have to.
Jesus is God, and you won't agree with me on that but just follow for a minute, if he is God, incarnate in a mans body, why would he need or want to marry one of his creation, they would be no where near him, it would be like marrying your baby (small child baby you gave birth too or impregnated a woman with). You created it you don't want to marry it.

Ok so if you follow the actual history, and I'm not even going to use the Bible, if you follow the history, there is absolutly no proof he had a child, and there IS proof he DIDN'T.

This book might help you, I like to assume people are smart but if you take everything you hear as fact I have to admit your not being smart. It's called the Da Vinci deception, and it shows the other side to the Da Vinci code, so if you read this book and the other you can compare notes and decide for yourself which one is most likely true.

heres another link

I haven't checked out that link for very long so I don't know if it works.

I hope your just trying to get people upset here, because you seem to have your facts wrong.

The reason it makes christians upset is because:
1) its a boldface lie
2) it ruins who Jesus is (God)

That's enough.

Alright, well I hope this helps and I hope you read the book.
Good luck,

Jessica (feel free to email)

basic prudity in part; somehow celibacy is more 'holy;' if he really was a man and a sexually active one (even if only monogamously with a wife), it makes him too human - and basic human guilt/sin is a cornerstone mind-control aspect of Christianity.

The DaVinci Code was not the first or only work conjecturing about a bloodline; some have made a strong case that mediaval "divine right" of kings was based upon a supposed descendancy from Jesus. The circumstantial trail of evidence the DaV Code uses somes from other sources; theoretically anyone decendant of the Merovirginian line could be part of the bloodline (a significant % of the western world, at this point) - IF true.

ultimately, it's irrelevant - peopel will believe what they want. Whether one wants a celibate/pedestal messiah or a (partially or completely) human one, people will continue to form their own beliefs - just as they always have.

it matters not to me, as lnog as no one is killing/harming anyone else based upon subjective values.

(and yes, the story commonly goes, a daughter)

it bothers Christians because the source of the story of Jesus having a kid is from the gnostic gospels. The gnostic gospels have been condemned as heresy because they also deny his death, resurrection, and ascension. They fail many or all of the tests used to determine whether or not a book is scripture. They do not line up with the other books that have been recognized as scripture, they contain known historical errors, they were written hundreds of years after the events would have taken place, they contain contradictions and many inconsistencies, and were not written by credible sources.

Dan Brown wrote fiction for ENTERTAINMENT. Obviously, you were entertained by it. At least, the mere possibility. Jesus, who is God, knows the things that God should know, such as the purpose for His arrival. Deviating is sin. B/c He could not be a sinner AND still save us from ours, He must therefore be perfect. He did not come here for carnal desires or to start a family. He is holy and righteous. Technically speaking, if He had a child, it would not appear to affect salvation, as far as I can tell. Just why you would believe or not.

I think you're missing the point. We are all Gods' children. He can have as many as He likes. The human or carnal part or sex is for the human family. As Christians we believe that isn't necessary for God. In the virgin birth the Holy Spirit came upon Mary and caused her to be with child.

I am a Christian and I believe Jesus was likely married and sexually active. I do not believe he had a son, as that child would have been seen as special and would be known to us in history. However, the likelihood he had a daughter I do not know. If he did, I wish we had that information reciorded and handed down. What did Jesus do when she misbehaved? I'd like ot know how a man filled with God treats his kid, you know? Far from making Jesus less holy I would like to have seen him struggle with real life problems like this.

ok wait, a daughter? you haven't read "the da vinci code" have you? because if you have then let me clarify that the book is a work of FICTION and there is no historical proof that such a child existed.

personally i wouldn't care less if jesus had a kid. the reason it bothers christians is because jesus was/is supposedly this divine person who didn't engage in anything as base as sexual intercourse. that's as far as i know. and besides most fundamentalist christians are afraid of anything that threatens their concept of the bible.

but then again, jesus was just as much man as god so i have no idea why he could not have possibly engaged in intercourse.

It doesn't "bother Christians," Eric, it simply isn't factual. Christ was perfect in every way. He would never have fathered children, only to leave them fatherless.

That being said, He was aware of His mission from early childhood. And His mission had nothing to do with marriage and fatherhood, it had EVERYTHING to do with teaching about the Father, and dying for mankind. He didn't have time for earthly pleasures such as marriage.

God bless!

It would not bother me if He had a child in the bonds of marriage. There is no proof to substantiate that claim and I don't believe it to be true, but it wouldn't bother me if it were.
