It's not really for me but for my mom. She had a stroke last Thursday and without insurance. She doesn't work cause she has disablilities that won't allow her to. She doesn't have any help from the government now. Also is this something SHE has to do or can I do it for her. She is in the mind set of a 3 year old and cannot make her own decisions and it's to late to think about getting power of attorney over her and I can't afford to hire a lawyer about being her guardian. We both live in Missouri if that helps.

Call your local social security office and they will help you. You can get guardianship or POA for you mom by seeing her social worker and filling out the paper work for this.

Considering her condition she should be able to qualify for it, contact your state's social services.
