I was wondering wich of these scopes would be best for a russian nagant. it is equivelant to a .270 or a 30-06. I want a good inexpensive scope. I need it to see far and zoom out good enough to see right up close as well. Also which brands should I be looking at? These are some I have been looking at. Thank you. My budget is about $50.

I thought this one was pretty good. but i think its too powerful. because i need something that can shoot far away and close up. and this one is mainly for far away.

i like the barska one best i think. its the first one.

You also have to remember that my rifle is a Russian M44 made in 1945. I bought it for $60 at a pawn shop. It shoots great and recently I have sportorized it completely from top to bottom. Should an inexpensive rifle have an expensive scope?

Yes my rifle uses a 7.62X54r cartridge. It is pretty powerful. Its getting close to deer season so I wanted to use this rifle one more time. So I want a good cheap scope. Next year I plan on working towards remington 700 338 Mag.

alrite then, if i were to spend $100 on a new scope then which one would you suggest?

Of the choices you made I'd probably pick the Simmons.

Cheap scopes will always disappoint you...ALWAYS.

I shoot my Mosins a lot and have a question: How are you mounting this scope on your M44?

As important....maybe more important than the scope is the mount and there are some good and some bad scope mounts sold for the Mosin. If you are considering a scope mount that replaces the rear sight, none of these scopes will work as you need a LER or pistol scope. If you email me with how you plan to mount the scope maybe I can save you some problems.

Hey, great you got a Mosin Nagant, I have an M44 and take it to Knob Creek and shoot it all the time, it is equivalent to a 30-06.... all the scopes you listed wont do.... you must pay to get a good scope.... remember you get what you pay for.... and stay away from Simmons.... not a good scope at all...... try Konus.... I have a Konus on my 98K Mauser.... I paid $110 for mine and it is an awesome scope..... I have a 3 X 12 X 50 You dont have to pay that much but more than $29......

None of the above. With scopes you really get what you pay for. Spend a couple of hundred dollars and get a good quality scope .

dont be fooled by your thrifty purchase on the M44. the reason you got it so cheap is that there is no demand for old russian army rifles. yours likely is chambered for the 7.62x54 cartridge. it is very comperable to a 30-06. i own a couple myself. NCSTAR scopes are among the best for your budget. i have one unused a 3x18x60mm with infrared cross hairs. i paid $70.00 dollars for it new at the NCSTAR booth at a gun show. i have all the papers and case and box for it. if you would like to buy it from me i will gladly sell it. i went with a bushnell scope instead of the NCSTAR on my 338 win mag. i originaly bought the NCSTAR for that rifle and decided the bushnell was a better match. i think it comes with scope rings to mount it too. let me know through email if you would like to buy it.

Go with the Simmons. They make a decent scope for the price. AVOID Barska. They are CHINESE made JUNK.I will not even carry them in my Gun Shop inventory. Nothing but problems despite having claims that they have a limited lifetime warranty. Seriously..They are cheaply made and will not last..The LOWEST/ POOREST QUALITY of the low end scopes.......

Invest a little extra money and buy a Leupold VX-I. The optical quality and brightness of such a quality scope will provide lasting satisfaction well after the extra cost is forgotten.

You can't buy a "good" scope for $50.
