I always had this feeling that I will die young. I just can't imagine my life realistically 10 years from now. Would you attribute this to being a sixth sense, a random feeling, or depression?

I have suffered from depression for 2-3 years, and I know a symptom is not being able to imagine yourself happy in the future.

Would you attribute this morbid feeling to depression, a sixth sense, or a random feeling?

Have you felt this way?

I would attribute it to depression personally. I have the same problem, when I think about the future be it 1,5 or 10 years down the line I just can't see it. I try to imagine what I will be doing but I can't really. I just feel like I don't have a future but I do put that down to my depression.

When I was a kid I was convinced I would die when I was 13. Until I hit the age of about 18 I honestly thought my depression was mainly caused by the fact that I had somehow not died when I was supposed to. Apparently there is a specific name for that, thinking that you will die at a certain age but I don't know what it is.

I've felt that way but I've been severely depressed since I was a teenager. When I was in my early 20s, I thought I wouldn't make it past 35 for some reason. It felt like a 'sixth sense' feeling at the time. Now that I'm on the right meds and a lot less depressed, I can actually imagine living to be at least 60. For me, I think it was part of my depression.

I don't know it could be depression. Or just a feeling because I know how you feel...Like sometimes I will be like why do I have to go to college and so on and work on stuff so hard when I could die tomorrow and none of that would even matter. I guess thats life though, But words are strong my brothers friend said he wouldnt live to see the age of 18 because he was really crazy and he died at 17.

That is absolutely normal because you are a normal person who thinks beyond the everyday things. I thought of dying young many times and was scared at moments and finally I realized that it would be inevitable. So in my opinion just do not worry and relax, because the ancient Greeks have said,While a person is alive the death is gone, when the death comes the person is gone therefore the fear of death is uncorroborated.

Take care

Sometimes you should because life is full of surprises that we just have to live with. I think everyday I will die young but somehow I get over it.I just know theres nothing else to do but live everyday the best you can and pray to make it.

depression is a big cause of this..and part of the way to deal with it is to make small obtainable goals for the near future and slowly work on more long term goals.....
