I often see so called "Christians" post questions about the SCIENTIFIC Theory of Evolution and then "disprove" it by citing Kent Hovind or Behe.

Does the S in R&S stand for Science? I thought it was spirituality.

Not to rant, but many so called Christians continue to bait their brethren with silly posts like Catholics are not Xian nor are LDS or Mormons.

I fear that all of this idiocy spreads like wildfire, while any intelligent answers and or discussion is defecated upon simply because one poster agrees with the original poster's ideology rather than THINK, truly THINK for themselves.

What is your opinion?

I agree with you. I always thought that this was a place to try to understand one another but there are few questions on here that are about trying to understand where another person is coming from. I may not agree with the beliefs or views of someone else but I do try to understand and accept them.

Good luck with what you are trying to do. Its admirable.

I disagree. All this rampant science-bashing around here has stimulated me to actually learn something about (indeed mainly) evolution in order to be able to provide a rebuttal. I do think that it creates rifts though, which may prove unbridgeable at some point. But it does provide opportunities for education and serious debate just as well as pointless namecalling. Seriously, I've seen a couple of occasions where people "saw the light" on this very site!

As to the general level of debate, it is pretty low. But that's how I like it, frankly. This is not religious fencing, it's religious mudwrestling. Personal attacks are not ok, but general bigotry is just part of the game...

I think that there are many misunderstood principles being presented as facts by both the questioners and the individuals who answer. You can show some ignorance in a question because you are asking to find something out. I'm a Christian and I agree that there is a lot of ignorance being shown as answers. A bit more study by everyone will help.

Though there are some things here that can be quite bizarre. I have to disagree with you on several points first you refer to us as X-ians correction: we are Christians. Second not all Christians are the same i would suggest you label people individually and not for what religion they are. And lastly, I have to say that i see the good part in R&S where everyone gets to state their opinion and i have been blessed with points of views from people that i have never thought about myself. The immature people give it a bad name.

I think most are kids on here or people putting in their time at work. I've asked thought provoking questions in the past which met with an immediate violation and deletion of question.

There are only two groups of people who support creation “science” and literal Biblical interpretation: (1) the scientifically illiterate and intellectually lazy, and; (2) pathological liars.

Since there is no scientific basis for any of their claims, their most basic deceit is to redefine ‘science’ to include mythological belief and ‘theories’ based on the folktales of quasi-historic Semitic tribes of illiterate goat herders.

I will agree to a certain degree. Many people are not looking for the truth to their question, but somebody else who agrees with how they already think. And LDS and Mormons are the same thing in case you didn't know.

Behe believes man descended from apes and Hovind is in jail having being exposed as a pathological liar- reminding creationists of those facts usually shuts them up.
