well, i must admit, that it still amazes me that i can send an email to a friend overseas and it's there almost immediately. yes, i understand how it works, but it's just really neat. i often think about what someone from 100 yrs ago would think about technology if you could bring them here today.
my neighbour thinks that anything bad that happens to her is because the devil did it. she honestly believes that!

Ok, that's weird. I don't believe modern technology is witchcraft. My religion is witchcraft, and I don't use phones and microwaves in my Circle. Although I found a really funny ritual for coffee, and another for casseroles, that I have printed and put in my kitchen. Oh, and you can't forget the chocolate ritual!

I have a freind who is a witch. Need I say more. She was got on well with the Christians at University, which goes to show what I perverse view of Christianity is being portrayed by the media these days.
My grandma won't have any white flowers in her house. She would see it as inviting her demise. She always has wood on hand to touch for luck, but she is a committed Christian.

I think that is two questions isn't it? I know witches, they believe in their craft. I know people that accuse many neutral things of being evil. I know people that think beliefs like Wicca are evil, without taking the time to investigate anything. That is ignorance. To not allow people to believe in Wicca etc, is intolerance and bigotry.

I know many people who believe in witchcraft because we are witches. But I think I see a deeper meaning to your question as to why someone would label something as being caused by witchcraft. I'll address that, too, if you don't mind.
There are many things attributed to witchcraft that are actually just someone's unfamiliarity and fear of something or just plain mob hysteria or meanness. Look at the Salem Witch trials.
Also, many people grew up believing in and practicing a type of folk magic and blamed bad crops, disease, and misfortune on the people that practiced that folk medicine and magic.
Another reason is the belief held by Christians brought up with the King James version of the Bible that says suffer not a witch to live. The actual word, according to many biblical scholars, is poisoner. Not literally someone who gives another poison, but someone who poisons the hearts and minds of the people, a detriment to a harmonious community. King James changed quite a bit of the Bible that he didn't agree with, just like Thomas Jefferson did (The Jeffersonian Bible). While today, people would say it is blasphemy, they seem to accept the King James adulterations as "gospel." (pardon the pun).
Here is the truth about witches, and other witches please feel free to correct me if I am wrong because this is only my belief/opinion. We as witches live our lives as servants to the world, the Creator/Divine/God and Goddess (however you name the supreme being you follow), and all mankind based on the "an it harm none, do as ye will" ethic.
This means that I, by my actions, inactions, or ignorance may not cause harm to anyone including myself. My job, my duty as a witch is to bring harmony, peace, health, and happiness to as many as possible. I may not cast a spell or do any sort of magical working on another without their permission. I have NO right whatsoever to take another's free will. It's wrong, not to mention the consequences for my actions are tripled.
Most of us believe that whatever we send out, positive or negative, comes back to us threefold. Therefore, if I want someone to stub their toe, I may end up with a broken leg (or worse, I may lose my leg!). I don't want that. I don't hate anyone enough to risk that.
Here is food for thought. Here is an comparison of my faith and the Christian faiths (of which I used to be a part of one of them):
An it harm none, do as you will = Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
As above, so below = On earth as it is in heaven
Also remember the Christian verse that says in Galatians 3:28 of the King James Version that "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."
For me as a witch there is no higher purpose and no greater duty that to help bring about the love and harmony that the great major religions, including Christianity, speak of. Our role is to help, not harm. Heal, not hurt. We work to heal the Earth as we can and others as we are asked. That is a witch.
Blessed be and good journeys. And, please don't worry. For anyone who chooses to give me a thumbs down, I hold no ill will toward you and would fight to the death to preserve your freedom to disagree with me and voice your own opinion.
