I would say that it really depends on what you are planning to do with it, but for someone who is less technically savvy, I would 100% of the time recommend a Mac (and this is coming from a Windows user...).

For general usage of things such as media storage (ie. photos and videos and music), web browsing, photo albums etc. the Mac is a very easy to use, excellent solution.

I have recently gone through the experience of recommending an XP machine for someone with very little knowledge about computers, and never again. Mac's are excellent at being easily configured.

Are you lot kidding! you either have not used a Mac recently or you work for Microsoft...... Because the hardware and operating system are from the same manufacturer a mac works out of the box with minimal fuss. It also comes with loads of great applications pre installed, Most common software is available for both Mac and PC now. Also no virus issues from the internet. As someone who helps people set up their new computers as part of my job, unless there is a very good reason, I always recommend Mac. I have many very happy new mac users thanking me constantly for helping them switch. Go and check out the look and feel at a PC world near you and make up your own mind. good luck. Terry.

I would opt for the Windows pc, especially if you are a beginner.

Primarily because it is the most prevalent OS out there and most anyone around you can help you out in understanding how to use it.

Not only that, but check the prices on the Apple/Mac pc's and I think you'll find them substantially higher in price than most of the other Windows based PC's out there.

Hope this helps.
