I want to go to new york for about 4 days preferably in december for 2 people in a half decent hotel. i hate googling for stuff i just get now where. so if theres anyone out there who loves googling for stuff be my guest and give me a wee hand! thankyou if you help.

Booked through them this year to go to New York!
I stayed at the Belvedere hotel and it was fab! 5 mins from Times Sqaure, 7 Mins from Central Park & 2 Blocks From The Rockefeller Center.
Went With Virgin Atlanctic. You might find it cheaper to fly with a different airline as you can choose who you fly with, but Virgin are amazing!
For 2 People it was Just over £1000.

I've been to New York many times and I usually book with expedia. I think this will be your best bet as December is expensive.
We are in fact going in Dec and we have paid £1200 for 2 Adults for 7 nights in a 3 star hotel and flights with BA. That isn't cheap but it is Christmas.
First time we went we booked it in the January Sales on Expedia and paid £280 each for a 3 star hotel and flights on Virgin Atlantic so it might be better to go in Jan if you want a bargain.
