Believe in it? What part? I do not believe that anything magical happened (I am considering the "miracles of the Bible magic). there is likely to be some truth to the stories, but I do not believe everything in there, I believe that Jesus was one heck of a prophet and was able to turn many heads, but that's about it.

I believe in God, not a book. I believe that the bible has been altered over the centuries to suit the needs of the fanatics and the churches.
People add things to strike the fear of God into others and take out the good to ease their minds. It happens to many books. Look how much history gets altered time and time again over presidential assassinations? So why would somebody not alter a bible that has been around much longer?
Thumbs down me if any of you want. But I guarantee if you look at the original text, (if one can be found and not doctored) and a bible today you will see many differences.
People say, "no one would edit the bible because it is the word of God and no one would dare do that."
This is the human race we're talking about here. They'll do whatever they want. Just look at the Spanish Inquisition, the Native American wars and so forth. Many people, many cultures have used religions over the centuries as a foothold to destroy others and refer to them as heathens.
It's still happening.

I believe in God. I learn about God, who He is, His nature, His character,His love, His redemption, His righteousness, etc. through the Bible. Would non-Christians be happier if we didn't have the Bible to base our beliefs on? Would they rather we make up a religion that fits our personal needs? Some Christians do that and are called hypocritical by the same people that call fundamentalists fundies (or brainwashed, idiots, unintelligent, etc). Why such an issue with the Bible? No one ever complains about people believing in the Torah, the Koran, or any other religious text, only the Bible. Wonder why that is?

The Bible is God's Word. It is a part of God, John 1:1. Worship God, but don't dismiss the Bible.

So...you're asking me if I believe in a book that was written during a time when people thought the everything evolved around the earth and that it was flat?
