Obviously being English I know why many people do not call themselves Warlock(Meaning Oath-breaker). I have noticed though while there are a lot of witches, there are no Sorcerers or other types of mages that use this site.

Do you exist?
How is it different from a Witch if you do?

I believe they don't call themselves sorcerer or mage due to the fantasy aspect of it - sounds too much like something from out of the Lord of the Rings. But, in my ~personal~ opinion, those terms may be the thing we need to separate us non-Wiccan witches from Wiccan witches. Everyone assumes Wiccans are witches and vica verca. I practice magick but do not worship in any way or fashion similar to Wiccan worship. Therefore, I'm not Wiccan. Maybe I should start calling myself a Mage or Sorceresses because my magick practice has no religious tones in it and my religion is not Wiccan.
:)

I think you'll find more sorcerers in fairy tales and books and such. Or maybe in playing a Mage in Dungeons and Dragons...
You're right about the term warlock...it is very negative. When you think of the term "sorcerer", people automatically think of movies and un-reality. Witches have different views from the main-folk and it's not like we wave a wand to unlock a door like in "Harry Potter".

I know a couple of chaos mages, actually. Their practice doesn't differ a whole lot from mine, but these two at least don't seem ceremonially bound like a lot of Wiccans and witches.

A with (myself included) are usual involved in Wicca, which is an earth/Goddess based religion.

Wizards, Sorcerers etc. it a magick practice and if I understand it correctly is not so much a religion as a way of life. Now if I have this wrong someone let me know, I am always open to learn about now things.

I believe Mages stick with Hermetic principles and such. The only person I ever personally heard refer to herself as a sorceress was a Wiccan wanna-be.

Anyone with genuine powers (of any kind) would be a fool to let anyone know of it,even family. The worst and most corrupting thing the individual can come up against is notoriety.

I have heard of a very select few who call themselves that, but I have no idea why the would. It generally leans to fluffy bunnies or Harry Potter fanatics. I don't even consider myself a witch. Not all trads do. Props on the warlock.
You know if are that interesting you could always subclass Sorc. :P
