There is nothing to stop you from checking out black magic, apart from the rantings of some chrisian. But black magic is not all it is cracked up to be. It is not as progressive as say white magic. And when you say your dad (used) to be ino it sort of makes me wonder why he may not be now? Have you taken that into account as well? I wish you luck in your quest. But your first lesson to remember is: Whatever you send out it can be returned to you three fold.

The closest I can come is a drawer full of old black magic markers. I think black magic requires a lot of live chickens.

And there is no credible repeatable evidence it works.

A lot of these things have more to do with the power of suggestion than anything actually happening.

If I keep telling you that you're going to be sick, you're probably going to be hyper-sensitive to your health and will attribute your next cold to my babbling.

Don't add more mysticism to the world. It make you look silly.

to tell u the truth black magic is something which is merely wrong. depending how u use it. if ur interested in it for doing good then its ok but its far when u turn around using it for bad. ur dad mite be interested in it but if u speak to him he will tell u its nt something to play with. instead of learning about black magic why nt try white magic. which is purely for good.

Problem is what do you define as "black magic"? Can you ask your father?

Just some may define any non-Xian religious activity as 'black magic'. & your father may have just had an passing interest in the unusual - ghosts, ufos etc.

OTOH he may have experimented in Indigenous European religions. (That's Paganism not Satanism to the Fundy wackjobs out there)

You will not know what your father was interested in unless you ask him.

Before you do anything, may I suggest you tell your dad what you're thinking of doing. This way he may tell you it's best to stay away from things you don't understand, and things you might conjure up and not know how to send back.

Messing around with spells can devastate lives. Don't do anything without speaking with him first.

black magic...why does it have such a bad ring to it? if it's a cult you call it a cult...the afro-american traditions(which ppl tend to confuse with black or evil magic) don't involve as much magic as people normally think... call it voodoo or vodou... anne rice's confessions of a vampire involves a new orleans vampire who's black or creole...
Look into candomble, santeria, voodoo (hoodoo I heard is like a mock version)
could the next person give a definitive answer on black magic... is it called that because of sub-saharan African descent? (compare white magic)

First you need to know exactly what he was into and to do that you will have to ask him.

Most parents will talk to there children about there beliefs. Try it and see how it gos then get back to me I will be more then happy to help you on your quest for knowledge.

I would strongly advise against taking this further. Your Dad sounds like he got out in time, but others involved with the Occult have become drug addicted, convicted of criminal offences, infected with serious diseases or just plain gone mad. Talk to a 'good' religious minister who you can trust and can keep your conversations private.
