My CD is officially broken... well kind of... the volume won't go down & when it will, it goes right back up to 30, the highest level. I also can't turn it off or take the CD out to turn it off that way, so I'm forced to listen to it on full blast all the time. If you know of a way to fix it without having to take it out altogether, that would be ideal. But right now I'm willing to do anything to get that noise gone, so I'm settling with just getting rid of it. But I don't want to electrocute myself, so which wires do I cut & how?

DO NOT CUT any of the wires just unplug the harness in the back of your stereo. Cutting it only leads to costly installation of a new unit down the road.

You would be better off just unplugging the radio. If it's a stock
radio it should have a connector on the back...just unplug it.
I don't think you want to cut the wires....

There may also be a small hole near the cd hole that you
could insert a paper clip that will allow the cd to come out.
(not all radios have the hole).

One other thing you can try, hold in the eject button while you
turn the power on...might work, dunno....
Worst case scenario, the power wire is usually red...IF you
cut it make sure you tape it up so it won't short.

Good luck

Walmart, Circuit city, best purchase or any close by stereo shop could have the harness. The harness could contain a chart that become attentive to the wires and the wires could have the comparable suggestions printed on them.

Pull the fuse for the radio in the fuse block...that will cut the power to it for now...call some stereo shops for pricing to replace it, probably not worth fixing.

First, a car can not electrocute you. Remove the radio and unplug, don't cut the wires!!!
You can't repair it when it is in the car. Buy a new one!

Tony G is right.

You can get an adapter harness that plugs into the factory harness from here http://www.metraonline.com

This adpater harness wires up to the new stereo you buy and it all just plugs in.
