have you done any?
How do I find if it is a secure website?

I always book hotels on the net.

Security check:
1. Make sure the page where you enter sensitive information, like your credit card number begins with "https://". (Unsecured pages use just "http://")
2. See if there's image of a lock at the lower right of your browser. Double-click to see where this site has registered secure server with.
3. Depending on your credit card issuer and the merchant, you may be required to register for Verified by Visa (VbV). An online security password system by Visa International.

With all this.....you should be ok. These are some of the sites I had been getting hotels with.

I have used and like: passionasia.com, asiarooms.com, hotels2thailand.com for rooms in thailand.

They all are very similar, easy to use and secure. You usually prepay for the room now at a big discount via credit card. Print up and bring the 'hotel voucher' with you (they email it to you). The hotel will have your reservation but usually want to see the voucher for verification. Only down-side is that you can not switch days or hotel once you book it and prepay. So if your travel dates are fixed - these are great. I always use these services when I travel there and highly recommend them.

I truly have used them two times final month. the 1st became right into a robust deal, £a hundred off the unique cost. the 2d, i think of I have been given ripped off and could desire to have long gone immediately to the lodge itself. those the place the two based in London although. What i might do is get a robust cost via them and then ring the lodges directly to examine the fees. Have a robust holiday.

Depends on where I am going.

USA and europe, I would check Expedia.com, Orbitz.com, Hotels.com and Sidestep.com or Kayak.com

For Asia, I would check Asiarooms.com, sidestep.com or Kayak.com

Sidestep.com and Kayak.com are search engines. Most sites are secured once you go into payment part.

I have used all of the above with no problems.

I have booked (yearly) for about ten years through Asiatravel. Their prices are good, they offer exactly what they show on their site and they have a very fair canceling policy.
Maybe others are good too, but Asiatravel has never disappointed me. Others have (prices had suddenly gone up, you had to pay in US $$, special offers were only for groups etc.)

I read up about the hotel on the internet, then rang them and booked it in person. Safest way i reckon.

dont do it through travelocity, they will illegal sign you up for some discount program and that program will steal money from you account and then say that you signed up for them. even though they send you no emails or calls or send you anything!
