I can see a dentist today easily, but it will take up too much of my time. Time I do not have to waste right now. I have a mid-term tomorrow (a very hard one), and 2 big test that are very important. I cannot make-up these test either, and nor do I want to. I need to study all day for these test. I need to read roughly over 500 pages in total. I've held the pain for 2 days, another 2 days won't be a big deal, I suppose. Does this sound ridiculous? The tooth is broken in half, but it's not gone. It's dangling, but I am trying my best to not have it fall, or else the nerve will be exposed and then I will be in serious pain. I prefer going on Wednesday when I'm done with all my test.

Advice please.

Thanks for all the answers. You're all correct. I shouldn't hold off. How ridiculous can I be? The last thing I needdand she even told me I've waited too long as it is. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh boy, now for the needles!!

Maybe that the time you are wasting here, could have been well spent having this tooth taken care of, don't you think? If the tooth is hurting, I doubt you will have any constructive studying completed. Have the tooth seen and restored by your dentist, then continue with your studies without pain.

It sounds like a major break that goes into the periodontal ligament. What I've done for my patient's in a time crunch is to remove the loose piece (because if you accidentally bite onto it, it hurts alot) I then put a little sealant over the exposed area to keep it comfy. If you can't find a dentist who'll do this (takes about 20 minutes), then do warm salt water rinses. This keeps the gums a happy as possible. Everytime the bit of tooth moves, it gets more and more tender. The salt should help with that. Try to keep your tongue out of it. Wiggling it with your tongue will just add to the problem and also give you a headache. If you can't leave it alone, buy some tic tacs and put one under your tongue. This gives your tongue something else to do and doesn't completely interfere with the studying gnosh that usually goes on around midterms and finals
Good luck!

Go to the dentist. You are making things worse by trying to hold off and you may end up with infection and even worse pain. You wont do a good job of studying anyway with all this distraction. Sounds like you waited till the last minute to prepare for your tests and sometimes that comes back to bite you when an emergency occurs. All universities have policies for health emergencies. All you need is a note from your dentist. Contact your professors immediately and make arrangements to take the test later this week or next. They have to make accomodations for you.

See the dentist. They can give you a quick temporary fix and then you won't be in so much pain - which isn't good for the test taking anyway. Take your book with you to the waiting room. Think how hard it will be to take the test if the tooth breaks all the way...

Why not take the book with you to the dentist today... they can do a temporary cap on the tooth, to keep it from "dangling" and do something to kill the pain. Than go back on Wednesday when you're done with everything and finish gettin it fixed. That way you can have the best of both worlds.

And if you're dentist is as cool as mine was.... one of the nurses actually read my textbook to me, while i was in the chair.

Your tooth is going to be an huge distraction for you during your tests. GO and take the time to have it taken care of. You will feel so much better.

go to a dentist and get a note saying it was an emergency procedure. im sure your professors would understand.
if not, they are heartless.
an infection can occur. 3 tests are nothing compared to your health and life.
