Thanks to puppy millers, most people are now under the mistaken impression that a dog inherits ALL of the qualities of it's parents. I.E., you mix a labrador with a poodle, you have a non-shedding hunting dog, if you mix that with a chow, you get a non-shedding guarding hunting dog. People are stupid, and the "designer" trend is going to be the single most devastating blow for animal shelters and homeless pets - not only are animals not getting adopted because it's suddenly much cooler to *buy* a mutt, but in a year or two when people realize what they ACTUALLY bought was a large, drooling, untrainable, shedding mongrel, all of those pups are going to wind up in shelters right next to the dogs they condemned.
Their stupidity is certainly laughable, but the numbers of dogs that are going to die from this horrible trend is certainly not...

There is a trend out there to mix a good breed with a Poodle to try to make it smaller/smarter/hypo-allergenic...whatever. I have never heard of someone purposefully mixing it up with a third breed in there. Must have been an accident. Maybe the owners of the Labradoodle are just trying to make the most out of the fact that their dog was "caught" by a Chow Chow, or vice-versa? The amazing thing would be if someone actually PAID all that much for one of the pups!

I would think that one day in the near future we breeders of recognized breeds will be used for nothing more than just another breed to see what it looks like mixed in with one of these designer breeds.
And I`ll bet the breeder of that litter will get tons of calls and folks ready to pay far more than the $500 being asked, lol.

i totally agree that no puppy should be GIVEN away. There are too many people out there who will make a profit off the pup by selling it for testing or ship it to Mexico to be taco meat.
If a person is willing to pay for a pup they are much less likely to turn around and do something like this. But $500. is just outrageous.
Did you notice if the ad claimed AKC registered too ? I would'nt doubt it.

I just told my lab mix about it and she laughed out loud... (she came from a rescue shelter)
Wouldn't it be nice to see breeders that were more concerned with producing healthy animals with strong backs and good lungs and hearts than producing something that looks cute that people will pay $500 for????

I am owned by Labs as well and this is such a scam! Sorry but those are called mutts and are not a new breed of dog. But let's not even get me started on my thoughts about "designer dogs". LOL

Sad. But, you know since Labradoodles ARE a breed, this is just a hybrid!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!
Since these people don't get it, this will continue!!!! You can take a Puggle and cross it with a Chiweenie, and get a NEW BREED!!!!!!!

sounds like the chow jumped the fence and the breeder is trying to recoup her loss.

OMG!!! They're mixing more breeds into these mutts. Have they studies genetics before? (Sigh) I don't know what they are thinking. I guess as long as there's demand, these backyard breeders keep supplying more mutts.

Unfortunately it is... they are calling these hybrid dogs and it's sickens me. $500 for a mutt. That's absurd!
