The reason the price of corn is going up through the roof is because of its use for alternative fuels. Now there are riots over the cost of tortillas in Mexico.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

For every problem you solve, you create at least two more problems. -- Einstein

But all the liberals say "Yeahhhh! It's fuel from plants! We are fixing the world!"

What the hell is oil? The plants are just a lot older.

i'll get hate mail for this, but remember the news from president fidel castro last week? "He said George W Bush's support for the use of food crops in fuel production would cause 3bn deaths from hunger."

americas croplands are already disappearing at an alarming rate. in my own county some of the best farmland in america is now covered by malls and housing developments. add to that the increased desertification of prairie lands, and you have a recipe for disaster. not to even mention that fuel crops will be treated differently than food crops leading to more genetically altered corn plants, to more dangerous fertilizers and pesticides.

people will actually die if this program advances far. of course it will affect mexico as well. but hey what's more important anyway, fuel or people?

Do you think that the price of corn will cause more illegal immigration from Mexico to America?
=================================

Mexico cannot, and will not, solve all of its problems by shipping their poor to the United States. What is not clear to some is that the United States is actively walking into a place where all the past debts are coming due, and from Social Security to hole in the roof.. the United States cannot fix the world and must, if she is to remain powerful, take care of her own.

Mexico is thoroughly corrupt. The land owners in Mexico absorb a huge amount of any and all aid that comes into the country for the poor, and absorb the money form oil revenues. If they cannot fix their country, there will be problems galor and we need, and very badly, people who cand deal with the idiot accusations that the United States created all of Mexico's problems.

Mexico created Mexico's problems. And if the illegal aliens do come.. they will be deported.

I like alternative energy ideas but the corn is a hoax. I saw many articles saying that to produce 1 gallon of fuel through corn you need to do so much work that you actually spend more than 1 gallon. It makes no sense
Even if you bring it down 50 percent (spend half gal to produce 1 gal) it's still not worth it considering the other issues as Einstein says,

Have Mexicans come here legally and along with fellow Americans work in plants to build parts for solar arrays and wind turbines

It is NOT just the alternative fuel scam (and if you do your research you quickly find it IS a scam), it is the FACT that China is buying it up.

We better be careful folks. China has 2 BILLION citizens, they are communist (not to be trusted) and they are buying all our stuff. Machines, food, fuel.

The cost of our lives is going to shoot through the roof and we no longer have good jobs to pay for it. If we don't get smart, and fast, I believe we are going to find ourselves in the middle of another Great Depression.

This time though, the rich will be fine, but the rest of us are going to starve. Don't think it can happen? The "experts" told us last year that the housing decline was just a "blip" and we have not even begun to see how bad that is going to get.

Wake up Americans before we are all standing in soup lines and living in boxes down by the river. It is already happening in Michigan and soon to come to a state near you.

I do not believe that the price of corn will make any difference.
If the US Government refuses to secure the Border - the illegals will continue to pour in, regardless of the price of corn.
