at the core do we all just look out for ourselves?

Those are my 3 concerns.......off the top of my head.
I think we do tend to become selfish sometimes with certain things.

The only time I have seen someone not care about is going through a deep deep depression or they are of the dark side which only cares about any one except their own selves. They are called dark entities, for which there is no help because they have chosen to be that way and will continue to be evil.

I think that at the end of the day we're concerned with our own happiness and nothing else. Even the most "selfless" act is committed because you WANT to do it, right? Whatever it is you're doing gives you a good feeling, and you're ultimately doing it for that feeling, not for the cause itself.
Having said that, it is certainly possible to care about someone or something so much that his/her/its happiness/condition has such a profound effect on yours that it's to your benefit to look after him/her/it even at your own expense.

I believe to truly love those around you, you have to love yourself. If you demand respect from those around you or refuse to be in a relationship where you're not appreciated, tehn you are a little self centered. It's human nature.
I love my family, but I take care of them and they for me. I think life is a lot of tit for tat.

I care about all people who are mistreated, hurting and suffering. I care nothing for selfish spoiled greedy people!

i care about my family and friends. i also care about almost everyone else in the world, only to a lesser extent
