One o' them girlfriend questions?

Sorry, really, for contributing to all the BS romance questions on this site. But I need some help! Please! Thanks.

I have a girlfriend who I really like, and who I also love. She is very pretty and we get along well. Recently while drunk I left a very cynical message on her answering machine, which brought to light a disparity between our understanding of the relationship.

She "must be with someone that is always completely sure they love me with their whole mind body and spirit every moment of their life." I don't believe that's possible for anyone to do to anyone else; love is just molecules, there are other things in life that distract you from it sometimes. But I believe that I can come close enough to treating her like that so that she won't know the difference.

Here is the question: do I tell her that I really can't do that, even though I believe that I can come closer to that ideal than anyone else, or do I tell I can, even though I don't think anyone can?

but it IS possible...there are times where my husband has pissed me off so badly that I just feel like throwing him down a flight of stairs, but I still love him...

I think you should be honest with her, but I wouldn't say "I really can't do that, even though I believe that I can come closer to that ideal than anyone else"...

I'd suggest saying something more like;

I love you even when I'm angry with you,
I love you and think you're beautiful even when you're pissed drunk, your hair is a mess, you have no make-up on, and you've thrown up in my lap,
I love you even when things are going on that I cannot control, and that take me away from you...even if at the time, my personality and actions says otherwise...
I know that you are the best person for me, and I am the best person for you.

Saying something like this will not get you into trouble...you're not agreeing wholeheartedly, because you don't agree, but at the same time, you are telling her what you CAN do, and how you do feel honestly...

You mention BS (and how I love the PC way you can't actually say what's on your mind on this site) and how you hate it, and I think you've answered your own question.

Yer woman you like and love is an advocate of said BS, and you know it. Now do you really think I need go on anymore? You can figure it out for yourself from here on.

I'm afraid your gf is in for a rude awakening. Mature love understands that nobody can be in love every moment of their life. Mature love understands there will be "God, I hate you!" moments. Personally, I think you should tell her what you think, but if you do, understand that she won't agree and you may lose her because of it. She is not mature and will not understand your side of things.

Uh, yes you can do it. Sure you might lapse but you'll still LOVE her. There's nothing feasible from stopping you.
