Hi friends,
I'm in Dubai,UAE. Yesterday we went for medical checkup. I am 8 weeks pregnant and my periods were regular most of the time and the previous 3 months it was irregular and doctor said I am anemic and suggested medicines which i took regularly. In between I got conceived and we tested with pregnancy kit and it showed positive subsequently we went to one doctor and she too confirmed. We were asked to come for scan and by now I am 8 weeks pregnant. My last period was on 27th August 2007 and yesterday 28th October 2007 we went for scanning. They carried out the scanning and said they are not able to hear the heart beat. On the scan report they have mentioned " LATE CONSUMPTION , MISSED ABORTION SUGGESTED ". I called up the doctor today morning and she told it means the feutus is almost 99% dead and 1% chances are there. Just before the scan I had three glasses of water. We are going for scanning after 10 days again to confirm. Please advice me and i want my baby. - Poongs

Hi,
We are praying and not loosing the faith. My firm belief is that there can be cases of misdiagnosis and because my periods were not regular the previous month, we are hoping. I have heard of one instance where the doctor has detected there is no heart beat, and during the second opinion with another doctor they have identified the heartbeat and the baby was delivered and the most naughtiest boy who is 2 years now. Trust me she is my own sister who is in Dubai. It happend for her. Yes, but I cannot stop crying when I think if my little one is not alive. I have not told my parents or anyone. I will definetely take a second opinion. Thanks for all who have responded with care. Love u all.

Im really sorry for your feelings, well the good part is it shows you are fertile but maybe now is just not the right time for your body or the egg.

Scan are there to do that job, thank goodness you are there because if you would have been in uk you most likely would have carried the fetus for another 4 weeks before finding out this information

Good luck

Something very similar happened to me. With my dates i was 8 weeks pregnant an went for a scan to be told my baby had no heartbeat but was told to come back a fortnight later as my dates were possibly wrong. I returned 2 weeks later to see that my baby was fine! The little heart was beating clearly! And i was only 8 weeks pregnant which meant i was only 6 weeks at previous scan. I was almost 100% sure of my dates but u cant always be sure. Good luck an i hope everything goes ok at your next scan. I know how hard it can be waiting but just keep positive. x

Hi.
I'm in SF. My last period was Aug 24th. Like you, yesterday we went to my ultrasound appointment, October 29th. We were so excited for the ultrasound to see our little peanut and to see the flickering heart beat.
The doc pushed and pushed on my belly trying to find the flicker and my heart kept beating faster and faster as she struggled to find the flicker.
With my blood pressure going up with every word the doc uttered, we were then being sent to the hospital for another ultrasound with better technology and color, etc. How surreal this was, getting admitted and waiting for the procedure. I was balling as I could just feel the inevitable going to happen. I went into the chapel as we waited and begged God to help me and for their to be a heartbeat found.

Bill held me and almost layed with me on the table as the technician went through her algorhythm of searching from all angles. She did abdominal and then vaginal ultrasound and it wasn't there. I truly believe this was the worst moment of my life. We stayed in that room for another 20 mins just crying and crying and honestly, it doesn't just feel like the loss of my baby, but the loss of a certain kind of future with this person in it. I have been given the two awful options of letting my body naturally miscarry or doing a d&c. I can't stomach either one of them. I honestly cannot stomach any of this. I understand what you feel when you say you just want your baby. I have been told to do the procedure as early as tomorrw and now after reading your post I wonder if I should be waiting it out and checking again later for a heatbeat.
I can't imagine having my baby not alive in me for 10 days.
Does anyone know if if is an absolute at this point that their be a heartbeat? Can it start later? I'm afraid to do something permanent but also don't want false hope.

I really feel for you. Unfortunately though the doctors are probably right and the fetus has probably died. This is extremely common although not any easier to deal with. Take comfort in the knowledge that your body is able to fall pregnant but perhaps this just wasn't the perfect egg to carry this time. Next time will work out and you will have a wonderful baby. Keep smiling and best of luck

If you didnt have a full bladder did you metnion this to the doctor? x
The scan might be right but i would ask for another scan with a full bladder to be sure cos you just cant tell.

Also, doctors have doplers in there surgeries why dont you ask them to see if they can hear anything.

Let me know, best wishes xxx

How scary. I am sorry you are having to go through this. **hugz**

The only thing you can do is try not to get yourself upset yet.
Wait till the other u/s. Just keep yourself busy and try not to think about it. I know, easier said than done.
