Gastric bypass is controversial - it works but some people don't recommend it because of the side effects.

Since your quality of life seems to be compromised, you should research it & discuss it w/ your doctor.

Here are links to reputable websites for medical information about gastric bypass:

Here's a link to a medical doctor who believes in a plant based diet: http://drmcdougall.com/

His work has helped people who have diabetes, are obese, have ulcerative colitis, high blood pressure or MS.

There is so much information on the internet about this surgery. I had it 10 weeks ago and my brother had it 5 years ago. There are a lot of requirements that you must follow before a surgeon will perform this surgery, and, as with all surgery, there is a risk of death. The death rate is about 1 in 200, but that is worldwide. My surgeon's statistics are MUCH lower than that. Talk to your primary care doctor, and if your BMI is over 35 and you have additional health issues, you will probably qualify. I belong to a Yahoo group called Weight Loss Surgery Friends & Support. There are many people who have had the surgery or are preparing for it. A lot of useful information based on experiences. Good Luck.

It is very effective. You'd have to talk to a doctor about the risks and safeness of it because it changes with everyone. However, you will not be able to eat a lot of foods. Many things will make you throw up. You won't be able to eat as much anymore either. In the end, you'll lose weight really fast, and you'll have excess skin on your arms, legs, and stomach that is really hard to get rid of. Plastic surgery may not even get rid of it.

there is another alternative. its called the cambridge diet and u replace meals with liquids for breakfast, lunch and tea. it costs arounnd £35 a week (average grocery shopping bill) and you lose like 10lbs in a week. You also get a counsellor who monitors your progress. After your weight loss the counsellor helps you to get eating again and portion control It is cheaper than gastric bypass surgery. just go into google and type in cambridge diet.
Hope this helps!
