I see flags and celebrations everywhere. What's it all about? :)

Today is the 29 October Turkish Republic Day.
Lets underline the word REPUBLIC and remind the rest of the world that our ancestors shed a lot of blood to obtain that title and we are going to defend it with our lives if needed.

Turkish National anthem most patriotic, Mehter takimi (Mehter Band ) patriotic military band in front of the Ottoman army, Many Patriotic songs about Turkey , or Turkish army ie, (Mehmetcik, collectively ) Many speeches , also are most blood boiling patriotic words, all above and many others who's answer of the similar to mine, will unite every Turk, on this planet not just in turkey, that is the different of being a Turk

Dear Turkish friends, I would like to congratulate you on your very special day. May your Republic live in peace and prosperity forever (same wish goes for all countries in the world).
I have read some books about your founder Kemal Ataturk. Did he say something about him passing away eventually but the republic living forever? I also like his motto peace at home, peace in the world. I wish the whole world would live by his motto.
I guess you Turkish citizens must be so happy today. I envy you for having the only genius statesman of the 20th Century, Ataturk (Churchill said that not me).

there are flags everywhere stranger :)
Bayramımız kutlu olsun...even tho they cancelled the fener alayı in izmir cos of terrorist attacks and didnt want to celebrate it as a festival when our soldiers are getting killed, we still have our flags hanging down our balconies and windows and concerts to get the message across
we are Atatürks nation and always will be.....
