The obvious most celebrated will be Times Square, but I've never gone. I don't feel like getting squished. I've always gone to either a friend's or a club. The clubs have been either a club that has the atmosphere I'm looking for (music and people) or where a friend was the DJ.

OMG, stay out of the city on new years...it's chaos, and VERY expensive...
